“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Calgarth Lodge.”

It was extremely homely and cosy. Can understand that if a group of 6 were staying it could be quite cramped, but it was perfect for my partner and I. The lodge was very clean and we found the bed comfortable. The only slight downside was we found that the water temperature in the shower was a bit hit and miss, but it didn't impact our stay at all. Would definitely stay here again should we come back to the Lake District.

the only slight issue beds not that comfortable but still got good sleep, other than that an amazing stay. Love the fact there is two toilets! means no kids fighting over the loo! : )

“I spent a lot of money renting this lodge.”

I had issues with the heating and the water pressure. Sykes did nothing to help. The owner did nothing to help. We had young grandchildren with us, it was difficult. I wouldn’t book with Sykes again, I wouldn’t stay in this lodge again.

Apologies for your issues. The water pressure was a park issue that effected all lodges unfortunately so was out of our hands. “The lodge bedrooms are very cramped with 3 people unsure how 6 people would fit .”

We utilised the 3rd bedroom to try and relieve the cramping . For 6 I would be looking for another shower . There was a lot of dust in the lodge and the blinds were really dirty. We found previous guests underwear under the bed in one of the small rooms when we were clearing out on day of leaving which was not acceptable . We highlighted this with the cleaners when they arrived . The outside decking area was covered in cob webs which was off putting. My son and I tried to get rid of these as much as we could so we could sit outside . We used the lodge as a base only although tried to eat in the restaurant but a lot of items were not available which was disappointing also . The pool was great fun . Facilities available in the kitchen of the lodge were great and didn’t need a thing .

“Nicely maintained and furnished caravan, with a decent sized TV.”

Bedrooms were a bit of a squeeze with 4 adults staying, but we expected as much given that it is a caravan. 2 toilets made the experience easier! Nice outdoor patio space where you can see the odd rabbit running by! Nice and peaceful area of the park. My only two minor issues were: - Oven has a large gap in the seal, meaning that cooking takes longer - The WiFi is incredibly patchy at best. We mostly used our phones’ own signal (which can also be patchy in the area). Overall, I would definitely recommend a stay here.

“A beautifully kept caravan in a really lovely location on the park.”

Lots of homely little extras that you wouldn't get in a park-owned caravan and the smart tv/WiFi was a big bonus for our children! The park itself is really nice, very clean and tidy everywhere. The swimming pool was lovely and warm too!

“Thanks for a great stay at Calgarth Lodge - the location was amazing and the accommodation was brilliant.”

One thing that let the property down was the standard of the kitchen with the lack of frying pan and other utensils. Other than this we could not fault our holiday and would definitely book up Calgarth lodge for a future holiday.

“We loved our stay at 18 Calgarth Park.”

Wish it had been longer! It was very clean and perfect for our needs. 2 adults and a boy/girl aged 16/14 . We’ve seen other reviews and yes the master bedroom is small and tight to get around but it’s a bedroom… for sleeping!! We all coped fine. Lounge was lovely too. I would politely recommend a small frying pan be provided and maybe a bedside lamp or 2 but they’re minor details. Would we stay again?….YES we we’d love to!! How would we rate our stay?…9:5 out of 10! And the booking system was so simple and effective. Cheers Ian & Co

“We booked this lodge as it stated that No Pets allowed due to the fact my little boy is allergic, as soon as we walked in the smell of dogs was very over powering, even the cushions on the setee smelt of dogs.”

My little boy spent the 3 days sneezing and sore eyes. We were disappointed that there was no washing up liquid or sponge to wash dishes i would have thought these would already be in there. The site is very good in a brilliant location to explore the lake district.

Thank you for your feedback. Apologies for the lack of dish washing equipment it is usually available under the sink. As for the smell of dog. We do not own dogs ourselves and have never allowed pets of any kind as we are the same regards the smell. “Just returned from an amazing stay in Calgary’s Lodge at White Cross Bay.”

We have stayed at White Cross Bay before and we love it, the facilities are great and the location and setting on the lake is beautiful. Calgarth Lodge was great…lots of personal touches to make it feel homely, very clean and lovely big decking area which was perfect for our children. We hope to return again next year!

“Yes, the cleanliness of the caravan, we had to wash most of the the cutlery and crockery, including the kettle which was dirty on the inside.”

The hairdryer doesn't work, didn't work when tried, the dvd player didn't work ( which was something we had intended to use with two young children. The WIFI was rubbish!!!!! The shade provided wasn't efficient in the weather, obviously you can't control the weather but a bigger shade would be beneficial. It's a shame for these things as really enjoyed the holiday, if you rectify these brilliant!

“Restaurant looks dated.”

It is a real shame that there is in no access to water for swimmers or children. It is also not possible to use or rent kayak/paddle board in the park which is a real shame too as park has direct access to watering a jetty. Our table bed was rock-hard, impossible to sleep on for a week.

“It's advertised as a lodge but its actually a caravan so this needs to be changed in the description.”

It's beautifully decorated, they've kept it really nice and it was very clean. It's in a beautiful location on park. There was only 2 downsides to the accommodation and that was the size and the wifi. It's the smallest caravan we had ever stayed in, I think it's okay for 2 people, but not a family. The rooms were so tiny you could barely walk around the bed, we used the spare rooms for our luggage. I had to get dressed in the hall way as there was no room in the bedroom. There is no internet at all, sometimes you get some slight signal if you sit on the sofa in the very corner of the lodge momentarily. There was a Vodafone internet box in there caravan but there was no passocde etc, so I think this belongs to the owners. I think some wifi in the accommodation would have been beneficial for the price it's being charged out at. We only needed wifi as my husband was waiting back on a job offer and we needed to keep up to date with his emails! Beautiful park anyway, lovely surroundings, its good accommodation for 2 people if you don't mind not having much space, not good for a family of 4 or bigger, theirs no room to fit anything or room to move!

“Our first time in a lodge and we really enjoyed it - our stay was lovely and comfortable, the lodge itself exceeded our expectations and the key pick up and drop off process was painless.”

The holiday park in Troutbeck Bridge was in a perfect position for where we like to roam, and we will definitely book again at that location. The only hitch was that on one occasion we could not use the restaurant on site because they had to close the restaurant for food servings because of staff having to isolate, but that is not an issue, it is just one of those things in the current climate. Hopefully all this covid stuff will be behind us soon. Thanks for a really enjoyable break. Will be back soon.

“Only small niggle was there was no can opener.”

An inconvenience but not a problem, we borrowed one from reception. Everything else was great. It was a lovely campsite and Calgarth Lodge was great accommodation. Was exactly as in the listing, spotlessly clean. Would definitely return.

“Calgarth Lodge was listed as having WiFi.”

no WiFi in the lodge (apparently it is park WiFi that doesn't even reach the lodge or large smart TV), reported to Sykes, was told I'd get a call back, had to call 2 days later, was told I'd get a call back, had to chase 3 days later, discussed complaint and was told I'd get a call over the weekend, had to call back on Sunday at 4pm. the park is lovely and the lodge was beautiful and a great price, but don't advertise something you cannot provide, especially as people rely so much on WiFi these days.

“The lodge we stayed at was quite nice, the beds seemed a bit thin at first but we managed to use them fine and I didn't have any discomfort.”

The resort itself seemed very family friendly, even though I just went with my friends, and I enjoyed the music and entertainment. My only regret about the holiday is I wish I'd stayed for a week and not just a weekend as I couldn't do everything I wanted to.
