“Location is in a very, very steep hilly street area of Ambleside.”

Also Very steep steps directly up to the front door. Seems an unfriendly neighbourhood ? Felt a negative vibe regards neighbours as in their possible frustration at this property being a Holiday Let. (Bungalow called Hartside directly opposite the Holiday Home) its owner displaying an instance of unreasonable road rage clearly directed at myself. An Extremely poor parking area. No outside front door night light found. Both Back doors difficult to lock/unlock. Confusing bin usage including recycle. Poor hall light switch (In effect, at night you are in darkness along the hallway from when opening the front door to when reaching the living room door) No first use provision for two house open fires, as in no matches, paper, kindle or logs. (Logs stacked outside difficult to find and very large, so not a suitable size for the homes fires) No house use condiments provision, as in Salt or Pepper, this being a first after years of holiday let property use. Landing bathroom shower weak and inadequate. Heating System not up to the job of adequately warming the house. Rear garden patio up a very steep step approach and certainly no privacy. Local Bin collection service team turned up, I carried out two sacks of full black bin bags to hand over explaining to the collector my confusion regarding the correct bins to use and was promptly told, “Not interested as your in a Holiday Property Let and we don’t collect business waste”, eh ? …. so much for my diligence. On the plus side, the en-suite rooms shower was superb.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. We feel that the description of the properties location is accurate and always recommend that guests call to check suitability of a property and it's location prior to booking. As this is a self-catering holiday let, a welcome pack is not provided as standard. The property is part of a business bin collection where all rubbish is collected in one bag and separated at a recycling centre. Instructions for this should be found within the property. The owner will be able to see your comments and can make amendments as required. Lakelovers Owner Team Property Owner

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
