    - V Lowe,

The property

Highfield House is a beautifully appointed substantial Victorian property which sleeps nine in five bedrooms. Located in the popular village of Ambleside which offers a great array of shops, pubs, restaurants and a cinema. It is also a 10 minute walk from Lake Windermere. To the rear there is a furnished patio and a good-sized lawned area with garden furniture. The den / games room will appeal to children of all ages. A perfect peaceful place to relax on a summer's evening with a glass of wine. Highfield House has been lovingly restored by the current owners to create a superb very spacious property that is ideal for friends and families - Rare for Ambleside is the provision of ample private parking for 5 cars. Whatever the season, this property is perfect; from al-fresco living to family meals in the superb dining/kitchen area or cosy days by the fire (can you see our cuddly sloths??). Accommodation In Detail Highfield House is spread over four floors. To the rear of the house, the modern kitchen has all you may need (with smart black granite worktops) which complement the fitted units. It is equipped with a gas Rangemaster hob and oven, dishwasher, fridge and freezer and a quality inventory. The dining area has a large table and is ideal for family occasions or social dinners with friends. The lower ground floor has a fantastic family den/games room, a great room to escape to read a paper or a book, or for the kids to play on the PlayStation or watch a DVD on the large TV. Location Ambleside is one of the most vibrant, and perhaps the most sophisticated village in the Lake District. It's lake shore location and excellent facilities make it the ideal choice for a self-catering break. Only seconds from your door you'll find a superb range of excellent restaurants, tasty cafes, local delicatessens, interesting shops, cinema and more. The shore of Lake Windermere is also only a stroll away at Waterhead Pier, where pub restaurants overlook the lake and Windermere Lake Cruises depart with trips to Bowness and Lakeside. About the location

AMBLESIDE

Windermere 4 miles; Grasmere 4 mile; Keswick 15 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
