Paul “We have had another lovely stay at Malvern.”
The property is so well located for everything in Ambleside. The open plan kitchen and lounge are great for a week away so everyone is together even if someone is preparing meals. The new bathrooms and carpets are a really nice addition to the house having stayed here for the past 8 years. The weather was very mixed but it was great to come back to Malvern to dry everything off easily. We would love to return again next summer but it looks like the property will no longer be available to rent ...

Thanks for all the memories Malvern.

Sue “Lovely property, perfectly positioned close to the town centre.”
Everything you need. A real home from home. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. (Just to let you know, the front door mortice lock is really tricky to open. You may wish to take a look as we struggled to get in/out a couple of times).
- Sue, July 2024Thank you, will have a look at the lock Property Owner
Louise “Great location and well-stocked kitchen.”
Plenty of space and great to have the utility for muddy boots. However the gas fire was almost impossible to light, even with following the instructions and no matter how careful you are, the shower doors come off the rails in the first floor shower. Could do with some new pillows, as they’re very uncomfortable.
- Louise, December 2023Update since your last stay; New bathrooms have been fitted in both bathrooms with roll top bath in the top floor and completely new bathroom furniture throughout. new lighting, new carpets, redecoration plus a few more bits including the fire. hope you stay again soon Property Owner
Scott “The property is getting a bit dated.”
Some furnishings needs replaced (one small sofa, soft cushions) and general decor needs improving. TV reception problematic but appreciated having smart TV. Bathrooms ok. Glassware not too clean. Lack of fish/egg slice. Good location.
- Scott, September 2023Vaishali “Great location for Ambelside and visiting other places in lake district.”
The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and cutlery. The house is spacious for 4 adults. The bedrooms were big and well equipped. Most of the furniture in the house had a bit of a musty smell to it. The main thing that really affected our stay was the poor quality of the mattresses. Each one was too soft and lumpy. We didn't sleep well for the whole time. For this reason we would not stay there again.
- Vaishali, September 2023The mattress on the top floor has just beeen replaced with a new top quality EMMA mattress. Matresses are a personal preference and as i have two mentions of the first floor matress i will replace those as well in November when the property is booked out for some updating. there is a new sofa on the ground floor too Thanks for the feedback, it helps us keep the property up to date Property Owner
Paul “We have just thoroughly enjoyed another great stay at Malvern.”
The location of the property is fantastic just behind the main road with easy access to everything in Ambleside. The house itself remains really homely and really well appointed with most things you could need for a week away. We love the open plan kitchen/dining and living area downstairs as we do cook some nights and it means we can still all be together while preparing the meals. The backdoor and utility is great for storing wet shoes and boots(not that it rains much in the lakes :) ) We have been coming to Malvern for 8 years now and have booked for next summer too. There are a few things that could be improved, which I know are being looked at. Like others have commented on the heated towel rail in the bottom bathroom did not work and hasn't for a number of years. The mattress in the main bedroom on the first floor really does need replacing as it is really quite uncomfortable. The place mats for the dinning rooms table have certainly seen better days and are very worn and scratched. The new parking permit is a little bit of an issue in peak summer times as it is not always easy to get parked in the car parks at this time of year, but the flip side of this is you do get free parking in other places around the lakes like Bowness and Windermere. Like I said we have had another great holiday with family and have booked again for next year as we enjoy it so much. Thanks again Paul, Rachel and Martha
- Paul, August 2023Thanks Paul, booked out for works in November so will attend to all your points Thanks again Property Owner
Kym “The property is very well positioned to all local facilities and walks.”
It was large enough to accommodate a family of 5 and 2 dogs. However the parking is a issue as you can offload but then you need to move your car to one of the local carparks and keep moving it as it can't be left unattended for your stay. Annoying when you are out all day walking the hills and want to have a drink with your meal after a full day out and about. The property could do with a very deep clean. The cups and glasses needed to be washed out before usage or you would get a mouth full of dust! The top floor mattress needs changing as it sinks in the middle. The two couches in the lounge have lost their life and you can feel the springs upon sitting down. Abit of TLC would make this property so much better and I'm certain keep bringing people back and back year after year.
- Kym, July 2023Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear that the location of the property. The mattress on the top floor has been changed to a new Emma mattress. One of the sofa’s downstairs is an old one but has a certain charm,, the main one has now been replaced I will pass on your comments re cleaning and agree the property is due a few little maintenance jobs which will be done over the winter Hope to see you again next year and thank you once again Property Owner
Fiona “Nice enough and great location, but several little things were a bit annoying, that we have found as standard in previous properties (within the same location and price band).”
Would be improved if the following were introduced: clothes hooks by the front door; kitchen scissors; hairdryers in each room; a laundry basket; coasters for 6 people. More irritating was the broken/not working items: towel rail not working in the shower room - this has been reported in previous feedback from guests but remains not working; range hood didn't work; kitchen pedal bin broken.
- Fiona, July 2023Thank you for your comments. We take all feedback on board, and we will ask our Maintenance Team to look at the towel rail, and the other issues mentioned. Thank you- The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner
Elaine “The house is in a great location.”
It needs some attention and small things would make a HUGE difference - Replace uncomfortable sofas , replace mattress on the top floor. It was also very annoying to find we needed to buy washing up liquid and toilet roll almost immediately as hardly any provided. Overall the above didn’t detract from a fantastic week , and I would recommend the house.
- Elaine, October 2022Thanks for your review and your comments, we have acted on both. There is now a new sofa and a new Emma Mattress in the master bedroom. Thanks again Property Owner
Paul “We had another great week in Malvern.”
This is our 6th year in the house. We really love the house and it's location. The open plan living area is fantastic and the new fridge is great too. The heated towel rail did not work again in the downstairs bathroom and the mattresses in the main bedroom really do need changing. We will be booking again next year. Thanks Paul, Rachel & Martha
- Paul, August 2022thanks for your feedback, we have just taken over Malvern having used it for many years and will be slowly improving as we go. Will puut those issues you raised on the list see you agian. Property Owner
