The property

Nestled in the heart of the popular tourist town of Ambleside rests this contemporary ground-floor apartment, Tower Lodge.

Set within a characteristic stone-built building and boasting a homely interior, Tower Lodge offers a romantic setting for your next escape to The Lakes.

An off-road parking space greets you upon arrival to this lovely dwelling, leading you over the threshold and into a handy hallway space, perfect for kicking off your muddy boots and storing your walking gear away from the main living areas.

Put your feet up and unwind with a cup of tea as you settle down on the sumptuous corner sofa, enveloped in the stunning natural light that floods the room through the towering windows, framing magnificent views of the rolling fells in the near distance.

Venture into the adjoining kitchen, beautifully-appointed with a contemporary interior, and perch at the sociable breakfast bar to indulge in a refreshing glass of wine as the budding chef prepares a romantic meal for two, heading back through to the living/dining room to serve at the intimate dining table.

As the day draws to a close, retire to the delightful double bedroom to end your evening cosied up with your significant other, watching your favourite film from the comfort of the covers before drifting off to a nights embrace.

In the morning, kickstart your day with a revitalizing rinse in the stylish shower room before heading out on an adventure.

Get better acquainted with your surroundings and take the short stroll into the centre of Ambleside where you'll find a host of amenities to assist with your self-catering needs; enjoy a bite to eat at one of the fabulous eateries that line the streets, with the choice between delicious takeaways, quintessentially English country pubs and quaint tea rooms to name a few.

Discover the cultural heritage of the Lake District on display at Armitt Library & Museum Centre, catch a spot of live music or an independent film at Zeffirellis, or marvel at the cascading waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force as it tumbles 70ft.

There's a host of walking, cycling and hiking routes suitable for a variety of abilities available from your doorstep, with the trail leading to the summit of Wansfell Pike beginning in the town, or if you venture further afield, avid outdoor adventurers can tackle the challenging climb to the top of Scafell Pike, the tallest mountain in England.

No trip to the Lake District would be complete without a visit to England's largest lake, Lake Windermere, where you can soak in the tranquil waters aboard a cruise, stopping at the bustling tourist town of Bowness-on-Windermere for a spot of sightseeing, or thrill-seekers can spend a fun-filled day canoeing or paddleboarding with a visit to Low Wood Bay Watersports.

Treat your significant other to a staycation they'll never forget with a stay at Tower Lodge.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
