The property

The Danish art of 'Hygge' is to acknowledge a feeling or a moment, a warmth, a contentment with your loved one, at home or away and although there is no literal translation for this vibe, the concept is displayed perfectly here at Hygge @ no. 8, Applethwaite Hall. The original Hall, completed in 1901 is the epitome of the Arts and Crafts movement and many original features have been retained echoing its historic past throughout the twelve, very individual apartments that were cleverly created during 2017. But walk into Hygge (pronounced Hue-gah) and you're instantly cocooned in an elegant, intimate and luxurious lifestyle apartment and quickly into 'holiday mode'. Just 20 minutes' drive from the M6 motorway, Windermere town centre is a manageable, mile walk away and here you'll find a well-supported high street providing for your everyday needs, the pavements lined with interesting shops, galleries and well established cafes and bars. Whether you're a first or returning visitor, no trip to the Lakes would be complete without a cruise on Windermere and around her 18 islands but why not take your hiking boots or bikes on a trip across the ferry from Bowness to Far Sawrey and explore the quieter, Western side of England's largest lake and pop in to The Cuckoo Brow for a thirst quenching beverage on the way back. == Hygge @ no. 8 enjoys a lovely, corner position on the first floor of the main building and offers wonderful views through the stone mullioned windows across the manicured grounds towards Claife Heights and the Langdale valley. Accessed by way of secure entry system, the wide staircase leads up onto the first floor where you enter into the hallway with ample space for hanging your outdoor gear. Step left into a glorious open plan living space, perfectly styled in keeping with the Hygge theme, a mix of sumptuous décor and perfectly chosen accessories with a deep cushioned sofa married perfectly with leather easy chairs and inviting dining area. The 49” smart TV is complimented by a Bluetooth music system, ideal for listening to your favourite holiday playlist. The quality kitchen, in a two tone neutral palate is well equipped with Neff appliances of electric oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/drier, all neatly wrapped in cool granite, delightfully adorned with a selection of thoughtful extras you'd expect including an essential Nespresso machine. The romantic bedroom sits to the right of the hallway and is beautifully presented in keeping with 'Hygge', the quality furnishings matched with exquisitely chosen soft furnishings and a super comfy bed, ensuring a restful and rejuvenated sleep. The adjacent Villeroy and Boch bathroom with interesting and complimentary tiling has a traditional deep bath, perfect for a long soak after a day on the fells or the bike, with a separate shower cubicle, handbasin and wc,. A private, numbered parking space is available for your vehicle within the level parking area along with a fully secure bike storage facility for your convenience. Guests staying at Hygge @ no. 8 are welcome to enjoy Applethwaite Hall's beautifully manicured, communal gardens and enjoy direct access to adjacent National Trust farmland. Being outdoor enthusiasts themselves, the owners of Hygge @ no. 8 have created some very useful guides for their guests to include routes for walking and cycling directly from the door. One not to be missed and a manageable hike for even the most novice of walkers is to the top of Orrest Head, the first summit visited by Wainwright in 1930. Enjoy the panoramic, 360 degree views of Windermere whilst having a picnic at the top or head back down the hill in Windermere itself; the village is well served by an eclectic mix of cafes, restaurants and bars to suit every palate and pocket.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
