The property

High Dow Crag is located on the outskirts of Coniston village, with fabulous views, yet tucked away from the hustle and bustle. This beautiful first floor apartment has been created by the current owners as a cosy retreat which offers contemporary living in the Lake District. From the moment you step inside, you will see the apartment is furnished to reflect the style of the property and offers high quality living space. Stairs lead up from the entrance hall to the main accommodation where the open plan layout distinguishes this from most other apartments. The bedroom offers a King size bed and there is a smart bathroom to match. High Dow Crag makes the perfect base for couples or singles to get away and enjoy the great outdoors with many walks from the front door. Coniston village can be reached on foot within 20 minutes along the disused railway track and for a round trip return along the lake shore path. Accommodation Enter through the dedicated front door into the hallway with plenty of storage for muddy boots and coats. Up the stairs you will find accommodation with a high-quality finish and superb attention to detail where you feel welcomed and immediately at home. The fabulous open plan lounge/kitchen diner gives you views of Coniston Water which are just stunning at all times of the year. In the well-equipped kitchen, you will find everything you need to cook up a romantic dinner or indeed a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day ahead. Integrated appliances, comprising gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and washing machine/dryer. The stylish lounge/dining area provides plenty of room you to enjoy your meals round the dining table or relax in front of the cosy fire on the comfortable sofa, whilst watching the TV, or playing games. Alternatively take a moment to sit in the chair by the window and read a good book or simply take in the view. The spacious bedroom is beautifully furnished with a welcoming King size bed and provides views over the hillside to the front of the property. It is complemented by the bathroom with corner bath, shower over, basin and WC with a lit mirror and shaving point. High Dow Crag offers off road parking for one car with dedicated 7 KW EV charger available (£25 supplement, please call reservations to arrange access). There is also a private outside seating area with bistro garden furniture where you can sit with a glass of wine on a summer's evening as the sun goes down. Location A Coniston holiday cottage takes you away from the hustle and bustle of Bowness and Lake Windermere, to a wilder landscape full of adventure. Coniston Water is famous for its part in Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons, with Peel Island being the setting for the 'Wild Cat Island' featured in the story. The lake is also known for Donald Campbell's water speed record attempt in 'Bluebird'. But the real magic comes from the breath-taking surroundings; dramatic fells including Coniston Old Man, wild woodlands and wonderful Lake District walks. You'll have access to no end of stunning routes, from leisurely strolls to challenging ascents. You'll enjoy access to the peaceful village centre, well equipped for stocking up the kitchen with traditional butcher, artisan bakery and supermarket. There are lovely tea rooms, cafes and traditional Lakeland pubs in Coniston village, and the Black Bull Inn is well worth a visit for its award-winning brewery the Coniston Brewing Co. For a cultured day out, head to Brantwood historic house - an impressive residence overlooking the lake, once home to John Ruskin the famous artist, writer and creative thinker. You'll find a range of events on offer, such as talks, concerts, craft workshops and even outdoor theatre. Whilst there will be plenty to discover in Coniston itself, it also provides a convenient base for exploring further afield. With beautiful scenery in all directions –the Langdales or Grasmere to the north, Ulverston and Grange over Sands in the south, Hawkshead and Tarn Hows to the east or the quieter Duddon Valley to the west- you will be spoilt for choice.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £150.
