  • “The location was outstanding we didn't move the car for a week, as there was a designated parking space this was never an issue even if we did venture in the car, just used local buses and boats.”

So much care was given to the renovation in terms of style and little touches like the guest book and information about curlew. The beds were really comfy, the shower was awesome and the washing machine was a life saver! The Internet was of good quality but if I was being picky the TV channels were limited and as it wasn't a smart TV there was no way to stream from phones or tablets a chromecast or firestick could easily fix this. This however does not detract from how amazing this apartment ...

This however does not detract from how amazing this apartment was it was the perfect size for our bolthole for the week and the kitchen was very well equipped for cooking although there were soooo many wonderful places to eat within a 5 minute walk. It was easy to find and plenty of information was given by lake lovers. This was such a relaxing holiday from start to finish

The property

Stonecliffe is a large, traditionally built residence occupying a prominent position within the heart of Bowness on Windermere. Dedicated parking is provided for one car, but once here you will find excellent restaurants, bars and visitor attractions within easy walking distance. Curlew at Stonecliffe is a spacious apartment for up to 4 people, developed in the lower ground floor of the property and accessed at ground floor level. This bright apartment enjoys plenty of light through high windows, whilst the tall ceilings, spacious rooms and mineral colours create a bright space which benefits from lots of lovely original features. The hallway floor is dressed in the original slate quarry tiles and throughout the apartment areas of masonry and old beams are exposed through clever plasterwork, giving you a glimpse of the history of the building. There is a separate WC located just off the hallway. A keen eye for design has resulted in a well put together space with lots of touches making it feel homely and stylish. Whatever the weather the underfloor heating system and thick fortress like walls keep this space warm, comfortable and cosy. The first bedroom is a king size double and is dressed with contemporary furniture including an arm chair and cosy sheepskins. Lake District Herdwick wool throws, local guide books original artwork and fine art photography adorn the walls, setting Curlew apart from a typical holiday rental. A faux wood burner within the original fire at the end of the bed gives a lovely effect on an evening. You can enjoy the super comfy Hypnos beds in bedroom two as either a flexible twin or a gorgeous super king. A Jack and Jill bathroom with a double shower connects to both bedrooms and has been fitted with excellent furnishings. The stylish lounge area features a comfy sofa in which to relax. There is an original feature fireplace in the corner of the room. If TV is your thing we have taken care of it with a high-quality Loewe TV with Freeview. The kitchen and dining area is large and well equipped with white quartz work tops and high spec appliances including oven /grill /4 hob burner, microwave, dishwasher and washer /dryer. The kitchen is well designed and provides lots of room for making evening meals or enjoying breakfast together.
