“The house as always was fantastic for a family get together, the new balcony with its lovely views was a great improvement and great for family meals in the Sun.”

With the centre of Bowness just a very short walk with lots of bars, restaurants, boats and a beautiful Big Lake with gorgeous views.

    - Mr Jacobs,

The property

Arriving at Mere View, the temptation is to look up and to try and work out what the cottage has in store but resist that temptation and walk quickly through the front door, climb the two flights of stairs to the top floor and emerge to the most stunning view of Lake Windermere! With a 25 sq. metre, balcony with glass infinity balustrade that wraps around the corner of the property you will immediately realise what drew the owners to make the most of this convenient location just a couple of minutes walk from the centre of the vibrant village of Bowness. With the whole of the top floor given over to the living accommodation with a triple aspect lounge/kitchen/dinner and on two sides, floor to ceiling patio doors to the balcony. The rest of the property includes two fabulous bedrooms with ensuite shower rooms and an additional double bedroom, a family bathroom and a separate TV/Reading room. With the bustling village of Bowness just a short walk away there is a great choice of bars and restaurants to choose from, and a good selection of local shops and of course easy access to Lake Windermere. For those wanting to get out and enjoy the great outdoors a stroll up Brantfell and Post Knott is rewarded with one of the finest views in Lakeland. == Accommodation in detail The front door opens to an inner hallway from which stairs lead to the first floor and then to the second (top) floor. This upper floor offers a triple aspect, open plan lounge/kitchen/ diner with comfortable sofas, TV, family dining table dual aspect floor to ceiling patio doors with views to Lake Windermere and the fells beyond. The patio doors open onto the large balcony that lifts you above the treetops and with its glass infinity balustrade the views are breathtaking. The balcony is furnished with comfortable outdoor furniture, ideal for relaxing and socialising as well as an outdoor dining area. The remainder of the accommodation is spread over the ground and first floor. On the first floor there are two bedrooms to choose from, a king size bedroom with ensuite shower basin and WC and the second is a double which is complemented by a high quality family bathroom. The third bedroom is located on the ground floor and this offers either a super king size double (6' x 6'3”) or 3' twin beds (please specify when booking). Patio doors from this bedroom lead to a secluded garden area and patio with bistro garden furniture. Staying on the ground floor there is a peaceful TV/Reading room, ideal if you want to escape with a good book or to catch up on your favourite programme and conveniently off the hallway there is a utility area with washing machine and tumble drier. Due to the layout of this property the owner only accepts children over 10 years old. Location On the eastern shores of Lake Windermere, Bowness is a sophisticated Lakeland village with so much to explore and enjoy. Stroll to the lake shore to hire a row boat or power boat, or take an elegant cruise on one of the Lake Windermere steamers. Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside; a wonderful way to explore without even using your car. There are numerous excellent restaurants in Bowness village, all within walking distance of Mere View, including champagne bars; contemporary wine bars; traditional pubs; and a range of great British and international cuisine. There is something for everyone, both in the village centre and the surrounding countryside, offering a full range of choice from traditional Lakeland pubs to fine dining. Windermere Golf Club is just outside Bowness village, on the way to the Lyth Valley. This area is also renowned for gentle but very scenic walking, with a wealth of acclaimed Lake District country pubs to choose from at the end of the day. Close to the village, you'll find Blackwell, The Arts and Crafts House. This impressive property takes a stunning position overlooking Lake Windermere, and has a range of interesting exhibitions. Join the A591 to Ambleside and Grasmere, and you can explore the homes of famous Lake District poet, William Wordsworth. Another great idea is to take the car-ferry crossing over Lake Windermere from Bowness, to visit the former home of Beatrix Potter in Near Sawrey, and the nearby picturesque village of Hawkshead.
