Oak Cottage is a superb Victorian Lakeland terrace cottage that has been fully refurbished to a very high standard in the heart of the popular village of Bowness-On-Windermere. Offering quality accommodation, Oak Cottage is well located for all the village has to offer including shops, bars and restaurants, is in easy walk of the Lake Windermere and is an ideal base from which to explore the whole of the Lake District. The cottage is situated just a few minutes' walk from Biskey Howe which offers stunning views across Lake Windermere and the surrounding area and is a perfect place to enjoy the sunsets across the lake in an evening. From the living room, with its cosy log fire, the large kitchen/diner, the patio and sun deck, the living space offers something for everybody whatever the season to appeal to families and couples alike. == Accommodation in detail Please note this property now has a zip and link bed which can be used as a double or twin From the parking space a small picket gate opens into the tiered front garden and the steps down lead past the sun deck and onto the patio and to the front door of Oak Cottage. Opening onto a traditional Victorian hallway, there is plenty of space to hang coats. The cosy sitting room offers a lovely wood burning stove, TV and DAB/Bluetooth stereo, whilst the large bay window overlooks the patio and is offered privacy from the road by the garden. The spacious kitchen / diner is finished to a very high standard with quality appliances including fridge, freezer, washer/dryer and dishwasher in addition to the electric hob and oven. The dining table is ideally suited for both breakfast and dinner in the evening and certainly it feels like the heart of the home. The back door from the kitchen leads to a small rear yard and level access to the street. Stairs from the hallway lead to the landing and the two bedrooms, both equipped with smart TV. The main bedroom, to the front of the property with its super king size bed is a welcoming retreat after a day out and about exploring the Lakes. The second bedroom, with a super king twin or double zip link bed, has a small, but well-appointed ensuite shower room with WC. The bedrooms are complemented by a family bathroom, which is again finished to a very high standard and include a bath with shower over, basin and WC. To the front of the property the owners have made maximum use of the space by creating three tiers in the garden. The patio area which is ideal for alfresco dining, the sun deck to relax and enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening and the third tier planted with shrubs to offer privacy. The owners have also created at the top of the garden, a private parking space for one medium size car, but have also included a parking permit at the property that offer permit parking nearby for guests wishing to arrive with more than one car. Bowness village sits on the eastern shores of Lake Windermere. Access to the lake is only a few minutes' stroll from the village centre, at Bowness Bay, where hire boats come and go and Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to both Ambleside and Lakeside. A great way to explore without driving! Family attractions in Bowness include the award-winning World of Beatrix Potter attraction - a favourite with the kids. You'll also find mini golf and tennis off the lake shore, and Windermere Golf Club just a few minutes' drive out of the village. There are a wide range of cafes and restaurants in Bowness, to suit all tastes and budgets. From top quality Fish & Chips to fine dining, there's something to please everyone. Bowness also has a mainstream cinema, and the Old Laundry Theatre offers an interesting programme of performances. Windermere Train Station 1.5 miles: Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 7 miles.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, cinema, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and the Old Laundry Theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is three miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away. There is also a variety of watersports on offer for the more energetic at marine centres along the lake.
