“We are long standing visitors to the lakes but have never had a cottage, but your service and wonderful cottage made it one of our best visits.”

Lakeland weather not withstanding we were pleased to be so close to the village to enable us to get the bus to go out and about and do a bit of walking

The property

Just off the centre of Bowness village, a private drive leads to an enchanting row of 17th century Lakeland cottages - of which Old Honeysuckle Cottage is one. Retaining its traditional magic, with old oak beams, woodburning stove, quirky stable doors and characterful nooks and crannies, the cottage has been refurbished in style to create a contemporary yet deliciously romantic atmosphere. You'll even find an upstairs snug/games room adjacent to the romantic bedroom - with sofa bed for occasional guests. This really is an ideal Lakeland hideaway, only minutes from the shores of Lake Windermere, complete with English country garden and also a sheltered patio. == Accommodation in detail Private parking for 1 car, right outside the cottage. Enter to the cosy lounge, with original character beams, luxurious furnishings and woodburning stove. A traditional 'king post' beam divides the lounge from the well-equipped kitchen and dining area. A staircase leads to half landing, where you'll find the modern house bathroom as well as access to the garden and patio with picnic bench. Continue upstairs to the king-size double bedroom, with separate dressing room/snug/gaming room.Location Bowness village is probably the Lake District's most popular holiday destination, and it's an ideal choice for couples. The village nestles on the eastern shores of Lake Windermere, with dramatic scenery to the fells beyond and endless opportunities to take to the water - romantic row boats to leisurely evening cruises on the famous steamers. What's more, Bowness high street boasts a wide selection of contemporary shops, sophisticated boutiques, handy supermarkets and tempting cafes. You'll find everything you could need during your Lake District holiday just a stroll away from your door. Bowness village has the liveliest nightlife in the Lake District, but there's always something for every taste. Try real Lakeland ale at cosy pubs such as the Hole int Wall, or enjoy a luxurious dinner at the Postillion Restaurant. Try contemporary tapas at Lucy4 at the Porthole, or drive out to one of the many acclaimed Lake District country pubs in the area. To explore further afield, you need only stroll to Bowness Pier. From there, Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside - a scenic route with no need for a car. You can also take the car ferry across Lake Windermere to explore Hawkshead, and visit the former home of Beatrix Potter.
