    “The apartment was spotless and finished to a very high standard with lots of amenities, particularly in the kitchen, and the jigsaw's kept us entertained whilst our toddler slept at night!”

    The noise from the road has been mentioned in a few previous comments; yes it is a busy road but we believe it's due to the top window sashes that have dropped slightly on a few windows which leaves an open gap between the seal and the frame. This meant that the latches in the bottom sashes didn't line up and lock on a handful of the windows. Apart from this, we would have given the apartment 5 stars as it's in a superb location, really modern, and felt like a proper home away from home.

The property

Stonecliffe is a large, traditionally built residence which sits in a prominent position within the heart of Bowness on Windermere. Dedicated parking is provided for one car, but once here you will find excellent restaurants, bars and visitor attractions within easy walking distance. Peregrine at Stonecliffe occupies the first floor of Stonecliffe, blessed by high ceilings, spacious rooms, full height windows and a raft of original Victorian features. Don't worry though, we have added enough modernity to ensure that whatever the weather you will be warm, comfortable and snug inside! This apartment has oodles of charming space and is the perfect place to get away with friends or family. The apartment has been renovated and furnished to a high standard; refined mineral tones and contemporary furniture are prominent throughout. Original artwork and fine art photography adorn the walls, setting Peregrine apart from a typical holiday rental.The Master bedroom is a wonderful space which features a free-standing bath positioned to enjoy a long indulgent soak. Solid wood furniture features throughout this room and the large bay window has a beautiful hand carved antique bench seat and original window shutters.A modern en-suite shower room is connected to the master bedroom and works as a Jack and Jill bathroom for the second bedroom. You can enjoy the super comfy Hypnos beds in bedroom two as either a flexible twin or a gorgeous super king, with views of a local slate built church.The dual aspect windows flood the lounge with natural light where you can relax in one of two comfy sofas. Alternatively, you could pick your favourite book, put your feet up and make use of the chair and foot stool in the lounge bay window which offers views of the lake and mountains beyond. If TV is your thing we have taken care of it with a high-quality Loewe TV, there is also an Apple TV that is connected to the internet. The inset gas fire within a marble hearth makes use of one of the many original fireplaces which feature throughout the property.The Kitchen dining room is finished to an excellent standard with a contemporary white dining table, white quartz work tops and high spec appliances including oven /grill /4 hob burner, microwave, dishwasher and washer /dryer. The kitchen is well designed and provides lots of room for enjoying breakfast or evening meals together.

Windermere Train Station 1.5 miles: Ambleside 5 miles; Kendal 7 miles.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter attraction and the Old Laundry theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is less than two miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away. There are also a variety of watersports on offer for the more energetic at marine centres along the lake. The area is ideally situated for exploring all that this region has to offer, whether by foot, bike, car, railway or bus; and is within easy reach of attractions such as the spectacular Langdales, Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top House at Far Sawrey, Coniston, Grizedale Forest Park, with its delightful walks and famous outdoor sculptures, mountain biking and “Go-Ape” adventure park, Ullswater, Kendal, Keswick, stone circles, Roman forts and England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike.
