    “We had a lovely stay apart from the weather.”

    The cottage was really nice and comfortable, quality furnishings and bed linen and towels, very clean through out. Our granddaughter loved the hot tub. The staff were very helpful and friendly we could not fault the place. There was a couple of minor things such as only one small frying pan and no hooks in one of the bedrooms to hang things like dressing gowns, not major and did not impact our stay, just giving the feedback for the owners. Millom 3.5 miles. This historical, two-storey cottage lies in the hamlet of Whicham, a few miles from the coastal town of Millom, Cumbria. Enjoying a beautiful, secluded location with off-road parking, Moore Cottage is a wonderful abode for a family of four. Step inside and you’ll immediately sense the character of the cottage, leading through to the living/dining room where you can catch-up on the Smart TV or lose yourself in a good book. When hunger strikes, head to the kitchen and rustle up a delicious meal, using the electric oven and halogen hob, microwave and fridge/freezer, whilst the dishwasher aids the cleaning up. From the kitchen, step out of the patio door to the enclosed patio, featuring high walls for a great level of privacy; take the evening outside and enjoy alfresco dining from the patio furniture before climbing into the hot tub and relaxing under the stars. The bedrooms at Moore Cottage are situated upstairs, comprising of two king-size bedrooms, both with wall-mounted TVs, with the master occupying a lavish en-suite shower room. Completing the interior is the family bathroom, offering a choice of bath and walk-in shower so you can best decide how to prepare for the day. On-site there is a pub, where you can enjoy a refreshing pint with your meal, ideal when you fancy a night away from the kitchen. When you’re ready to explore, there is a plethora of idyllic coastal walks available for the energetic, including the magnificent fells at Wasdale Head and Scafell, which are nearby. This small coastal town on the southern edges of the Lake District National Park frames the northern shores of the estuary leading to the River Duddon. Millom Museum offers an insight to its past, with a reconstruction of a drift mine lending a nod to its iron and steel works. There is also a statue in the town centre, commemorating the iron industry, depicting 'The Scutcher' who stopped the iron ore tubs with and iron bar and his own strength. This town was also home to writer Norman Nicholson, who has a stained glass window in St. George's Church dedicated to his memory, while the strange 'fish' window in the Holy Trinity Church is also worth a visit. Discover the remains of Millom Castle and travel to nearby Haverigg, with its Blue Flag beach, a restored lighthouse and children's adventure play areas, for the ideal family day out.
