The lounge area was very comfortable with comfy seating and log burner if needed (the central heating was sufficient though) TV with plenty of channels and netflix. Plenty of books, maps of the area and games for your use. The dining table was big and at he back of the lounge area. The kitchen was the most well equipped I have ever seen. Plenty of place settings, cooking utensils and cleaning products. The extention at the back has a beautiful sunroom, with a piano. There is a utility room with toilet, washing machine and vacuum cleaner. The sunroof looks out with bi-fold doors onto the flagged patio that has potted shrubs and plenty of tables and seating to sit outside, with views of the beautiful hills to the right. The bedrooms have very comfortable beds, two double and a twin room, there are two hairdryers (iron and ironing board in the closet). The bathroom is modern and very spacious with a walk-in shower, big fluffy white towels. The whole cottage is spotlessly clean and is beautifully furnished with lots of lovely pictures and ornaments. It was a pleasure to stay there. There Is just a short walk to the main street with plenty of bars, shops and restaurants/cafes. The supermarket Booths is also a 5 minute walk away. The road running past the property is quite busy and you need to be aware of that as you leave the property, as the door is onto the road, but it is not an issue as long as you are aware. The patio has a few steps you need to be aware of and the staircase to the bedrooms is narrow and quite steep (as are most of the cottages in the area) so just be a little careful. There is also a resident parking permit, for roadside parking around the cottage, we stayed on a very busy easter weekend and were always able to find a parking space). Would we visit the cottage again.... without a doubt. The owners were also very helpful and at the end of the phone if needed for advice and assistance too.

About the location

KIRKBY LONSDALE

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country".
