“This was our 4th time to Broomriggs: we particularly love the gorgeous view and sitting at the dining room table is a delight.”

Everything is comfortable and delightful except the very tiny fridge and the fact we have to kneel down on the floor to find things in it. Very uncomfortable and awkward especially as we are seniors. I don’t know how families manage as we are only two but could not fit in things we brought. It is not always easy to buy what we want at the local little supermarket and we don’t want pub meals all the time. Also, this summer, all the pubs were booked up for weeks or not serving because of a staff shortage. The fridge issue has held us back from coming every year! But everything else pulls us to rebook! Hoped this year it might have been upgraded and possibly a freezer tucked into the hall by the front door so at least one could freeze some items. Very minor issue: the shower head, if not used as a handheld, tends to droop towards the wall on which it is fixed so you have to crane backwards to get a “standing” shower! probably a simple fix and obviously not a major thing. The view is transcendental and we just wanted to gaze at it for hours. It is also lovely to walk about the grounds, or take a drink down to sit on the terrace.Alan, the caretaker, is very nice and helpful.

The property

If you are searching for peace and quiet, in a romantic hideaway with fabulous views then here you have found a special retreat. Broomriggs 10 is set within a quintessential English country estate, comprising 37 acres of formal and natural gardens and woodland, complete with an acre of private lake frontage and shared use of 2 rowing boats. This first floor apartment forms part of a magnificent original Gentlemen's residence, built at the turn of the last century and designed in the arts & crafts style. The breathtaking views over Esthwaite Water towards the surrounding mountains have to be seen to be fully appreciated, yet here you can really soak them up. To say the grounds are wonderful is an understatement; you find many vantage points within the vast acreage where hidden pathways lead to more and more magic. Nearby Hawkshead is teeming with life, having cobbled streets, excellent eating out spots and country pubs, and the village store is open 'till 8pm: whilst Near Sawrey boasts The Tower Bank Arms, once owned by Beatrix Potter and featured in her books, serving delicious food and real ales. This picturesque escape is exactly that and makes for a perfect holiday at any time of the year. == Accommodation in detail A shared entrance hall with staircase to the first floor. Private entrance hallway with space for walking clobber. The magnificent lounge / dining room is full of light through the leaded bay window commanding panoramic lake and fell views. Deep cushioned sofa and chairs for relaxing. One king size bedroom also boasts glorious views, with en-suite bathroom. The second king size bedroom also has a shower room. About the location

SAWREY

Hawkshead 2 miles.

The village of Sawrey is situated two miles from Hawkshead down the eastern side of Esthwaite Water, overlooked by the woods and tarns of Claife Heights. Sawrey consists of two separate hamlets - Near Sawrey and Far Sawrey - both with a cluster of picturesque cottages, tea rooms and pubs. Near Sawrey is famous for Hill Top, the 17th century farmhouse where Beatrix Potter wrote her acclaimed children's stories. Now a museum, owned and run by the National Trust, Hill Top is one of the most visited houses in the Lake District. Far Sawrey is the hamlet furthest away from Hawkshead and the nearest to the ferry point on Windermere. It offers a church and pub/restaurant with a beer garden. There are good walks in the area, including those to Claife Heights and in Grizedale Forest. It's also a great base for enjoying a wide variety of typical Lakeland pursuits - with watersports close at hand on Lake Windermere, fishing on nearby Esthwaite Water and, of course, fell walking.

Please note this property has 2 zip link bed. These will be made as a twin by default. Please contact the call center should you wish it to be a super king.
