“The view from this property is spectacular.”

The apartment is great value, comfortable, warm and has everything you need. The caretaker Alan is welcoming and friendly. This is the best place we've stayed in the Lake District and a fantastic base for exploring the area. We fully intend to go back!

    - Ms Partington,

The property

If you are searching for peace and quiet, in a romantic hideaway with fabulous views then here you have found a special retreat. Broomriggs 10 is set within a quintessential English country estate, comprising 37 acres of formal and natural gardens and woodland, complete with an acre of private lake frontage and shared use of 2 rowing boats. This first floor apartment forms part of a magnificent original Gentlemen's residence, built at the turn of the last century and designed in the arts & crafts style. The breathtaking views over Esthwaite Water towards the surrounding mountains have to be seen to be fully appreciated, yet here you can really soak them up. To say the grounds are wonderful is an understatement; you find many vantage points within the vast acreage where hidden pathways lead to more and more magic. Nearby Hawkshead is teeming with life, having cobbled streets, excellent eating out spots and country pubs, and the village store is open 'till 8pm: whilst Near Sawrey boasts The Tower Bank Arms, once owned by Beatrix Potter and featured in her books, serving delicious food and real ales. This picturesque escape is exactly that and makes for a perfect holiday at any time of the year. == Accommodation in detail A shared entrance hall with staircase to the first floor. Private entrance hallway with space for walking clobber. The magnificent lounge / dining room is full of light through the leaded bay window commanding panoramic lake and fell views. Deep cushioned sofa and chairs for relaxing. One king size bedroom also boasts glorious views, with en-suite bathroom. The second king size bedroom also has a shower room. Both of the bedrooms can be configured to a twin or king size bed. The neat kitchen has all you need along with the communal laundry room. Shared use of 2 rowing boats from Easter to the end of October. Badminton court, putting green, childrens swings and table tennis. There is a resident groundsman who keeps the beautiful grounds in "tip-top" shape. As you wonder through the gardens and down the sweeping driveway through rhododendron groves to the private lake frontage, keep your eyes open for wildlife, you might see deer. Upon your final payment you will be provided with a phone number for the caretaker of the properties. You must call the caretaker in office-hours a minimum of 24 hours before your arrival date to advise him of your arrival time and to agree arrangements to be met at the property or for key collection if the caretaker will not be available.

About the location

SAWREY

Hawkshead 2 miles.

The village of Sawrey is situated two miles from Hawkshead down the eastern side of Esthwaite Water, overlooked by the woods and tarns of Claife Heights. Sawrey consists of two separate hamlets - Near Sawrey and Far Sawrey - both with a cluster of picturesque cottages, tea rooms and pubs. Near Sawrey is famous for Hill Top, the 17th century farmhouse where Beatrix Potter wrote her acclaimed children's stories. Now a museum, owned and run by the National Trust, Hill Top is one of the most visited houses in the Lake District. Far Sawrey is the hamlet furthest away from Hawkshead and the nearest to the ferry point on Windermere. It offers a church and pub/restaurant with a beer garden. There are good walks in the area, including those to Claife Heights and in Grizedale Forest. It's also a great base for enjoying a wide variety of typical Lakeland pursuits - with watersports close at hand on Lake Windermere, fishing on nearby Esthwaite Water and, of course, fell walking.

Please note this property has 2 zip link bed. These will be made as a twin by default. Please contact the call center should you wish it to be a super king.
