The enchanting and stylish interior of this chocolate box cottage has been beautifully created with great flair to provide the perfect bolt hole and offers a relaxing living space, dressed with sumptuous hand-picked furnishings, fabrics and carefully chosen accessories. You'll be surrounded by fabulous walking territory for all abilities and fabulous eateries. Accommodation in detail A short walk from the parking along a private lane brings you to the cottage where you're welcomed by a traditional lattice entrance porch. Go through the door into the lovely living space. The beautiful Kardean flooring is dressed with a rug and a traditional window seat. Sit around the wood burning stove for cosy evenings in comfortable furnishings arranged around the original fireplace. Kardean flooring continues into the Kitchen/Dining area with table and chairs, fully equipped with all mod cons for self-catering throughout your stay. A stable door leads to the rear of the property. Upstairs, is a beautiful Macintosh mahogany king size bed, a light and bright room, with a separate dressing room and a fully tiled shower room. A parking permit is provided for nearby car park, and there is a secure outhouse suitable for bike storage. Location This truly romantic self-catering property in Hawkshead village is an ideal choice for a special occasion or Lake District honeymoon, perfect for exploring Hawkshead village, Beatrix Potter country and Lake Windermere, or simply a luxurious bolt-hole where you'll experience a taste of laid back Lakeland life. To the west of Lake Windermere, Hakwshead's car-free village centre is cute and quaint, with cobbled streets and traditional Lakeland cottages mixed with tea rooms, cosy pubs and local shops. The village is surrounded by wonderful walking territory for all abilities. Manageable walks around Esthwaite Water and Tarn Hows provide quite unforgettable scenery, whereas the more energetic will be tempted by Latterbarrow, Claife Heights or perhaps the Langdale Pikes, which are also within driving distance in the Langdale Valley. Near Sawrey is a small hamlet only a short distance away between Hawkshead and Lake Windermere. The area is renowned for its connections with Beatrix Potter, whose home can be visit at Hill Top. For a wide range of sophisticated shops, acclaimed Lake District restaurants and memorable lake cruises from Waterhead Pier, head north a short distance to Ambleside on the northern shores of Lake Windermere. The picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Visitors can wander the wealth of tiny alleyways, thoroughfares, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century houses. There are many pleasant inns, teashops, guest houses and gift shops in the village, as well as the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which houses an annually changing exhibition of the famous author’s illustrations and stories. The other famous Hawkshead enthusiast, William Wordsworth, attended the Old Grammar School in 1779-87, which still stands today, and you can visit the building where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form, and even see the desk into which he scratched his name as a small boy! Newby Bridge is ten miles away and offers attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes and Windermere Lake Cruises, sailing daily between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside.
