Hayloft is the smaller of two adjacent properties that have been created from a historic 16th century barn situated in the lovely rolling countryside of the south Lake District and close to the popular village of Cartmel. This superb barn conversion offers quality accommodation that is elevated to the first floor to offer the best views of the surrounding countryside and to incorporate original features such as the pretty windows with handmade shutters and original oak beams. Accommodation In Detail Stepping from the courtyard through the main entrance hall, the front door of Hayloft opens to the staircase that leads to the first-floor accommodation with open plan, living / kitchen / dining room that incorporates the beautiful lofty beams and the pretty barn window with handmade shutters. Comfortable leather sofas are arranged around the TV and benefit from the lovely views of the surrounding countryside. The quality fitted oak kitchen incorporates integrated appliances including fridge, freezer, dishwasher and an electric oven and hob. Relax in the evening over dinner at the dining table. The welcoming bedroom, with views to the surrounding countryside, benefits from a welcoming King size bed and is complemented by a super en-suite shower room with large walk in shower, basin and WC. A laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer is shared with the neighbouring property as is the electric car charging point. Private parking for one car is available. Location The southern end of Lake Windermere is renowned for its peaceful atmosphere, being much quieter than the busier Lake District holiday destinations further up the lake. However, you're very close to the hamlet of Lakeside and Lakeside Pier, where the famous Lake Windermere steamers depart regularly to Bowness and Ambleside - a wonderful way to explore these areas without driving. There are some lovely walks in the area, such as Wainwright's Finsthwaite Heights route from Newby Bridge. The route approaches High Dam - a picturesque tarn that you might just have to yourselves on quieter days. You'll also find several Lake District family attractions within easy reach. Also at Lakeside is the Lakes Aquarium - a fresh water aquarium displaying local wildlife. The Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway offers an opportunity to take a short trip on a restored traditional steam train. Lake District historic sites such as Holker Hall and Gardens, Cartmel Priory, Stott Park Bobbin Mill, Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall are all within easy reach by car, with no need to navigate through busy tourist areas. The famous Furness Railway, one of Britain's oldest working standard gauge steam railways, runs between Haverthwaite and Newby Bridge.
