    - Mr Hiley,

The property

Originally built for the local gamekeeper, Low Dog Kennel Cottage offers a wonderful blend of charm and character alongside stylish and contemporary living. Enjoy the walk through the open countryside to the neighbouring village of Cartmel with its historic 12th Century priory and a great range of village pubs and popular eateries including the acclaimed Michelin Star restaurant, L'Enclume; artesian local shops including the famous Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding Shop and Cartmel Cheeses. Presented to the highest standard with two bedrooms, a luxurious family bathroom, a cosy sitting room and smart kitchen, Low Dog Kennel Cottage offers a welcome retreat whatever the time of year. == Accommodation in detail The front door of Low Dog Kennel Cottage opens to a cosy and welcoming sitting room with original slate flag floor and feature fireplace. Relax in the comfortable sofas and delight in the warmth of the log burning stove or relax in front of a good film on the wall mounted smart TV with Bluetooth sound system. The owners have thoughfully created a lovely panelled dining area within the sitting room that utilises the space to the full and one where you linger over dinner with friends and family. For those with dogs the owners have not forgotten you, and have created an innovative and snug, built in dog bed under the stairs which will be a welcome retreat for your four legged friend when returning from those long walks. The kitchen is well appointed with quality fitted units with granite worktops and quality appliances including electric hob and oven, dishwasher and washer/drier. Climbing the stairs to the first floor the cottage is presented with a choice of two bedrooms both with views over the surrounding countryside; the master bedroom offers a welcoming kingsize bed and the pretty second bedroom can be made up as either a king size or twin bedded room (please specify when booking). The family bathroom is fitted to a very high standard and features a large free standing bath ideal for relaxing in after days spent exploring the Lakes. To the rear of the cottages there is an enclosed courtyard patio with bistro table and chairs making it the ideal spot for a morning coffee or a glass of wine on a summers evening whilst enjoying the views across the neighbouring fields. A private parking space is available for one car. Location Offering stunning views of the South Lakeland District fells and countryside, the sleepy picture postcard village of Cartmel has grown up around its famous 12th Century medieval Priory Church. It is a special place where ancient history and tradition mingle effortlessly with the present day. Very close to the southern tip of Lake Windermere and within 30 minutes of Grizedale Forest and the bustling Lake District towns of Bowness on Windermere, Ambleside, Grasmere and the market town of Kendal. Although steeped in history, Cartmel is not trapped in time and the village offers today's visitors many modern surprises in the form of fine quality attractions, shops, a wide variety of traditional Lakeland inns and cutting edge gourmet restaurants including the internationally acclaimed Michelin Star restaurant, L'Enclume. Around the village square you will discover a delightful assortment of genuine 16th - 18th century buildings. All this and the famous Cartmel racecourse providing national hunt racing in its most original format is just off the centre of the village square. With its party crowds and funfair, Cartmel rekindles the social gathering tradition of the original steeple to steeple chases.
