“Disappointed that the hot tub wasn’t heated on arrival.”

We’ve not had a stay before where this has been the case, especially with a 4pm late arrival time. House was also very cold as no heating was on for arrival. Had some issues with hot water and not being able to get any after one person had a bath (even after following the rules about hot water and heating). Again a shame when the property has two baths and showers. Property stunning and clean and in the middle of nowhere which was exactly what we were after. Overall we had a great stay ...

We are glad that you enjoyed the stunning, clean cottage The Hottub as stated is not heated up prior to arrival and is at the option of guests if they want to use it or not. We advise putting the Hottub on at the arrival time, if wanting to use it that evening. The heating was on a 20 degree setting and will remain at that, but as mentioned in the description it can take time to come through the traditional stone floors. The water was boosted prior to arrival and the booster switches as per the instructions will give enough hot water for guests as long as the water is boosted before wanting to use the shower or bath. Glad you had a great stay whilst at the property. Property Owner

We clean the tub and refill the tub every week and ask you to change the water each time you use it. The tub is wood fired and takes up to 3 hours to reach bathing temperature. Bags of Kiln dried logs are stored next to the tub at the cost of £10.00 per bag. But you'll find a manageable drive takes you to shops, cafes, restaurants and evening entertainment in Bowness village on the lake shore, with the opportunity to take a steamer cruise to Ambleside or Lakeside. Windermere Golf Club is also en-route to Bowness and keen golfers will love the scenic course. About the location

UNDERBARROW

Kendal 5 miles; Windermere 7.5 miles.

Underbarrow is a quiet, pretty Lakeland village close to the historic market town of Kendal and within reach of the wonderful Lake Windermere. The village has a pub and is ideally placed for exploring southern Lakeland and the Lake District National Park. Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall, both with fine gardens, are nearby, and Kendal has much to offer in terms of shopping and is quite lively culturally, thanks to the Brewery Arts Centre and the Abbot Hall Art Gallery and Museum, which is widely recognised as one of the best in the region. Also worth a visit is the ruin of Kendal Castle, which was formerly the home of Katherine Parr, and there’s plenty to see and do with Grange-over-Sands, Cartmel, Ulverton, Bowness, Ambleside and even the Yorkshire Dales National Park within driving distance. Underbarrow is a lovely base for exploring the area.
