“Brilliant hosts, nothing too much trouble, place spotless, lots of cleaning products left and essentials ie.”

Coffee long life milk, as no shops near by.Good area as lots to see and do. Parking very close to cottage so easy for unloading.

“A lovely place to stay.”

Thank you for the prosecco and biscuits on arrival. The stairs are a bit steep and the sofa not so comfortable. But very clean and decor lovely. Bed was very comfortable and so a good night's sleep. It is handy to explore the lakes. Not being able to take over the property until 4pm means that time is limited to explore after arrival

“Old Peat Cottage, a converted 17th Century peat store for the cottage next door, is a charming blend of the original stone-built building but charmingly developed to create an extremely comfortable and welcoming holiday cottage, with all the modern facilities one could wish for, located in glorious surroundings on the southern edge of the Lake District National Park.”

Our week at Old Peat Cottage was a delight, and we were able to incorporate visits to Isle of Walney, Coniston Water (Campbell cruise on the Lake), journeys on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway, Ambleside and Windermere, and a drive up the coast and then inland to see England's highest peaks of Scafell and Scafell Pike. Old Peat Cottage is an ideal base for exploring all the beautiful scenery and attractions of the Southern Lake District. Highly recommended.

“This is the second holiday cottage with you that we have had to come home early.”

The cottage is lovely BUT not suitable for any one with disability. We could not get up the stairs so for 3 nights we slept on settee and chair. We feel that you should note if not suitable for people with mobility issues We do hope you listen about our remarks as i feel not enough information is out there for cottages like ourselves.we was so tired we just packed up and came home

“Exactly as the details say.”

The staircase is steep so please take note of the owners comments. The only thing missing being how delightful the owners, Janet and Martin are. A great welcome coupled with a call on our way home enlightening us that some jewellery had been left behind. The pieces were placed in the hands of Royal Mail the following day and we received them the day afterwards. A great pity we cannot afford Sykes Cottages a similar accolade. Their service was abysmal. Will never book anything through them again.

Sofa and armchair could have been more comfortable. Didn’t mind quirky staircase as this added to unique feeling of the cottage. Owner very friendly and helpful. Bottle of Prosecco a nice touch.

The Old Peat Cottage, a 17th century semi-detached cottage located in Beanthwaite, near Ulverston in Cumbria, is a lovely place to stay. Enjoying a fabulous location on the edges of the Lake District National Park, The Old Peat Cottage is a great place to stay for a couple looking for a romantic getaway to the Lake District. Be welcomed into the open-plan living space, with its thick walls and wooden beams, where you can look forward to cooking up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen, with electric oven, plate cooktop, microwave, along with a washer/dryer so there is no need to bring your whole wardrobe away with you! Tuck-in to a delicious meal at the dining table for two, as the wine is poured, and plans are made for the days ahead. Snuggle up on the plush sofa in front of the electric fireplace and select a much-loved film from the Smart TV. Wash away the day with a refreshing shower, before making your way up to the first floor to catch your rest in the tastefully-decorated double bedroom, served by a cloakroom. Awake from a restful slumber, rustle up morning coffee ready to enjoy in the front garden as you watch the world go by. Grizebeck is set on the border of the Lake District National Park with spectacular panoramic views of the Duddon Estuary, Furness Fells and the Coniston mountains. Grizebeck is set in pretty countryside and superb for those wanting to spend some time away from it all. In the village there is a pub serving local brews and evening meals , the local garage has a small shop ideal for essentials. A few minutes’ drive takes you to the village of Kirkby-in-Furness which is home to a general store and two pubs as well as a railway station. East of Kirkby-in-Furness takes you to the market town of Ulverston, which is well known for its street markets and festivals at different times of the year. A few minutes’ drive will also take you to Broughton-in-Furness which has three pubs, Beswicks Restaurant, a bakery, two cafés, deli, butchers, Post Office and Tourist Information. Coniston is a 20 minute drive and Windermere is 25 minutes' drive away if you want to take part in some Lakeland activities. Grizebeck is ideally placed for visiting a variety of the Lake District attractions including the South Lakes Animal Park near Dalton, Dalton Castle, Muncaster Castle and the Ravenglass Railway.
