The property

The Old Peat Cottage, a 17th century semi-detached cottage located in Beanthwaite, near Ulverston in Cumbria, is a lovely place to stay. Enjoying a fabulous location on the edges of the Lake District National Park, The Old Peat Cottage is a great place to stay for a couple looking for a romantic getaway to the Lake District. Be welcomed into the open-plan living space, with its thick walls and wooden beams, where you can look forward to cooking up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen, with electric oven, plate cooktop, microwave, along with a washer/dryer so there is no need to bring your whole wardrobe away with you! Tuck-in to a delicious meal at the dining table for two, as the wine is poured, and plans are made for the days ahead. Snuggle up on the plush sofa in front of the electric fireplace and select a much-loved film from the Smart TV. Wash away the day with a refreshing shower, before making your way up to the first floor to catch your rest in the tastefully-decorated double bedroom, served by a cloakroom. Awake from a restful slumber, rustle up morning coffee ready to enjoy in the front garden as you watch the world go by. Visit Ulverston, where you'll find the Laurel and Hardy Museum, Stan Laurel's Birthplace, and the Ulverston Golf Club, where you can put your putting skills to the test while admiring the scenery of Morecambe Bay in the distance. If you don't feel like cooking, there are a number of pubs and restaurants in town where you can spend an evening with your loved ones and indulge in some of the region's best cuisine. Visitors to Coniston Water in Lake District National Park can enjoy kayaking and canoeing, as well as a ride on the National Trust Steam Yacht Gondola for those who want to kick back and relax while taking in the stunning views of Lake Windermere. Lake Windermere is a great place to visit if you can't get enough of the great outdoors. You can take a boat or paddleboard out on the lake, explore the exhibits at The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and the Windermere Jetty Museum, or take in the expansive views of the Langfeld Pikes from Queen Adelaide's Hill and Orrest Head. If you're looking for a bit more adventure, head to Ambleside, where you and your loved one may visit the 2nd-century Ambleside Roman Fort, take a look around at the Armritt Library & Museum Center, or take a scenic 70-foot trek up the Stock Ghyll Force waterfall. Grizebeck is set on the border of the Lake District National Park with spectacular panoramic views of the Duddon Estuary, Furness Fells and the Coniston mountains. Grizebeck is set in pretty countryside and superb for those wanting to spend some time away from it all. In the village there is a pub serving local brews and evening meals , the local garage has a small shop ideal for essentials. A few minutes’ drive takes you to the village of Kirkby-in-Furness which is home to a general store and two pubs as well as a railway station. East of Kirkby-in-Furness takes you to the market town of Ulverston, which is well known for its street markets and festivals at different times of the year. A few minutes’ drive will also take you to Broughton-in-Furness which has three pubs, Beswicks Restaurant, a bakery, two cafés, deli, butchers, Post Office and Tourist Information. Coniston is a 20 minute drive and Windermere is 25 minutes' drive away if you want to take part in some Lakeland activities. Grizebeck is ideally placed for visiting a variety of the Lake District attractions including the South Lakes Animal Park near Dalton, Dalton Castle, Muncaster Castle and the Ravenglass Railway.
