Next stop is Ambleside, where you can explore the fascination Ambleside Roman Fort, hike up to the stunning Stock Ghyll Force, or delve into local history at the Armitt Library & Museum Centre. From here, you can easily access the Rydal Cave for scenic walks, along with Grasmere, where you can wander the former home of the great poet, William Wordsworth.
Further afield, you will find Kendal, home to the Quacker Tapestry Museum, an excellent golf club, Kendal Castle, and Kendal Museum.

Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park.
