Situated just above the North-Eastern shores of Coniston Water, Tent Lodge must be one of the Lake District's best-kept secrets. Offering, where possible, flexible arrival days and durations, this magnificent residence enjoys an abundance of wonderful features including stunning panoramic views over the lake and 'Old Man' mountain range, private lake access and spacious, stylish living. Tent Lodge is available for 3-6 night breaks (Friday arrivals) and 7 night breaks (Thursday arrivals) or please call 015394 88855 for your bespoke requirements. == Tent Lodge, previously a family home, is steeped in character and history having welcomed and inspired many famous guests including Beatrix Potter and Arthur Ransome. A home from home offering comfortable, elegant accommodation, perfect for special memory-making holidays with family and friends. This beautiful Georgian property sits in extensive private grounds from which a lovely English meadow sweeps majestically to the lake where you will find the estates private shore with its jetties and plenty of space for a paddle or a glass of champagne as you watch the sun gently dip behind Coniston Old Man. The interior of the house is opulent yet understated with many original features peering through the chic decor, roomy and airy but still affording a cosy, relaxed atmosphere Accommodation in detail The front door opens into an oval entrance hall and on to the elegant Georgian staircase which sweeps its way up to the first floor. Leading from this hallway is the expansive sitting room, flooded with light from the vast window which frames the spectacular lake view. A tasteful and restful room where there is plenty of space around the coffee table to enjoy some pre-dinner nibbles in front of the open fire. The Dining-Room, again with large windows providing guests with unparalleled views, boasts a grand dining table, perfect for long, relaxed dinners into the evening and an open fire. A sofa and arm-chairs dotted around the room provide ideal seating for a digestif or a quiet read. The well-equipped and sociable kitchen has a more traditional feel with original oak beams and an Aga cooker at its heart. A breakfast table sits in front of the large window, again with the magnificent lake view. There is plenty of space for food prep with a large island and breakfast bar and with its electric oven and hob in addition to the Aga this is a real family kitchen ideal for coming together to rustle up delicious meals. Just off the kitchen is a utility room complete with washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge freezer and lots of storage. From the main staircase landing you will find the beautifully decorated master bedroom. A large, serene room with a panoramic view of the lake and surrounding fells it shares the luxurious Jack and Jill shower room and its huge walk-in shower with a lovely, bright twin-bedded room. There are two further sumptuous king size bedrooms one with a compact but stylish ensuite shower room and the other with an ensuite toilet and hand basin. On the South side of the property is a second staircase leading onto a landing which accesses one of the King-sized bedrooms and the lavish house bathroom with its walk-in shower and luxurious double-ended bath. There is also a second doorway into the master bedroom from this landing along with two quirky staircases up to the two pretty, 2nd floor attic bedrooms with characterful combed ceilings, one with twin beds and one with three single beds. Outside overlooking the lake is a large terrace and sloping lawn, a perfect place for al fresco dining, relaxing, enjoying amazing sunsets and stargazing. Surrounded by gardens and shrubberies Tent Lodge sits in a unique location, a peaceful place to immerse yourself in nature and recharge the batteries. A short walk from the house grounds, across the meadow, leads to the waters' edge an idyllic spot ideal for picnics, swimming and fishing. Perfect! Single sex groups is strictly by arrangement, please call. Location Coniston is less 'touristy' but only a short drive from other Lake District destinations such as Ambleside and Hawkshead . Coniston village offers activity providers, shops, pubs, cafes and a highly rated Bistro. The area is popular with cyclists, walkers and water-sports enthusiasts and the Boating Centre on the lake offers boat hire, boat trips around the lake are available on the Steam Yacht Gondola together with solar powered launches Launches. If you want to leave the car behind Tent Lodge is ideally placed to access Grizedale Forest, with its miles of walking and cycling trails. Brantwood, John Ruskin's Lake district home, the village and Tarn Hows are all within walking distance. Due to its height and open nature children must be supervised at all times on and around the original main staircase.Please note that 5 other estate holiday properties enjoy the use of our private lake shoreline and jetties.

Superb walking, mountain biking and climbing are available locally on Coniston Old Man and Wetherlam, and the lovely woodland trails at Grizedale Forest. For watersports enthusiasts, the quiet lake is ideal for dinghy sailing and canoeing, whilst the less active can enjoy a leisure cruise on the beautiful steam yacht 'Gondola’, or visit Brantwood, the former home of John Ruskin.
