Parking is adjacent to the property and ease of walking in to town is a big plus for us. Communication with the owner is great and the welcome treats are always fantastic. This was our 4th visit and we are going to book for 2024.

“We had a wonderful holiday at 3 Strickland Court and would highly recommend it.”

It is extremely comfortable and clean with everything you need. A proper home from home and more! Lara, the owner is very friendly and obviously cares about her guests comfort and enjoyment. She has thought of everything including a welcome pack with essentials to get you started. She also contacted us to make sure the beds were set up as we needed and again to let us know that the house was ready for us. The position is fantastic. 5 min walk into the main shops, restaurants and cafes. We did not have a car and access to public transport was simple and plentiful, taxis, buses and trains all in easy reach. Definitely recommend the area for exploring the Lake District and definitely would return to this property. Thank you Lara.

“This is a lovely property .”

The owners have got everything right . We have stayed in a few Sykes properties and there is always a suggestion to make but we cannot think of any for this cottage. The kitchen has everything you require with a good range of utensils . The lounge is very comfortable . Both bedrooms gave us a good night's sleep with the area being very quiet . Being able to sit in front or back garden is an advantage , you can chase the sun. We throughly recommend this property.

“Excellent accommodation.”

Super clean and well equipped. Nice little touches like the welcome basket. Milk in the fridge, tea and coffee and condiments. Excellent Wifi reception and TV has facility to use your own Disney +, Prime, Netflix etc. Location is good with buses and train to Windermere. Would highly recommend.

“The cottage is even lovelier than it looks from the pictures.”

Although it is only a few minutes walk into town the area is so quiet. Very good off road private parking. The cottage is decorated to make it feel like home from home rather than a holiday let. It has so many thoughtful touches such as a welcome basket, sensor lights, a light up mirror in the beautiful shower room and tissues in the bedrooms. It is a very comfortable place to spend evenings in front of the large smart TV. It is just a short walk to pubs and restaurants. We highly recommend this cottage and would stay here again.

A great extremely well equipped house, to accommodate visitors wanting to cook their evening meal. Nice toiletries and welcome pack! It’s one of the cleanest places we have ever stayed in. Loved the informative notice boards drawing you in to try local walks, which we did and other attractions. Nice veggie/vegan riverside cafe, salads looked really nice and tasty, worth a visit. Owner very friendly and accommodating, they adjusted twin beds to double to suit us using the second bedroom. Bedrooms are not large though certainly big enough and cosy. My only criticism was the double mattress, I believe it was a good one and very comfortable though now has body shaped dips to roll into, it could do with replacing. We loved our stay at Tarn Howse, Strickland Court and if in the area would revisit.

Hi Liz. Thanks so much for your detailed and positive review. We're really pleased you enjoyed your week and found the spare glass to replace the one that got broken. Thanks for drawing our attention to the mattress on the king sized bed in the main bedroom. I can confirm that the main mattress was replaced last year and is still in excellent condition, however the mattress protector has lost its shape in laundering so I've replaced it today for the comfort of future guests. This home from home has everything you need and more - very well equipped and everything of a good quality. I was delighted with just how clean the property was- a much higher standard than some other places we’ve stayed in! The house was comfortable enough for us and it was a pleasure to spend time there. We would definitely consider staying here again if we were to visit Kendal again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this delightful home to friends and family. “The cottage lived up to our expectations and had everything we needed for a lovely stay in Kendal.”

The Owners provided a thoughtful welcome pack and a few provisions to get us on our way. The property was very clean throughout and provided a very comfortable stay. Lots of information was provided about the area through leaflets and books which made for some interesting walks around Kendal and further afield. Parking was very convenient to the property and enabled us to have a short walk into Kendal to enjoy the local restaurants and shops. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property and will definitely consider it again for the future when we visit the area again.

However we are concerned that the heating instructions on the pin board and information folder weren't visible enough so will make sure we put a note above the thermostat for future guests. “The instructions for access were clear and unloading was easy since there was a parking bay about 20 paces away on the same level as the property and adjacent to neighbouring property.”

There was one step into house from the walkway to the car so all in all loading and unloading was very easy. The property was located in a quiet neighbourhood and the neighbours we met (on the way to the car parking bay) were friendly. It was about a 20 minute walk into town (downhill) with lots of shops and places to eat including an M&S. Access to the surrounding area was easy. There was a great shower with one step up access and some very nice large towels. The bed was comfortable with our own toppers and the kitchen was well equipped. There was a nice sized Smart TV with lots of apps for streaming services but you do need your own account to make use of them. We received a welcome text from owner with telephone numbers if we had problems. There was an excellent information folder about the house, for example where the water stop tap was located. There was also lots of information on local facilities, important telephone numbers, instruction manuals and local walks and places to visit. We would highly recommend the property for visiting the area.

A welcome pack waiting for us on entering which was very thoughtful, even fresh milk in the fridge. Gin and tonic and a beer - lovely surprise which we really enjoyed ! “Immaculately clean, warm and tidy and well presented property with all modern amenities you could ever need for a weeks stay.”

The owners have thought of everything to make ones stay very comfortable and homely; it really has a ‘Home from home’ feel. If you’re used to living in a quiet area and getting a good nights sleep then this is the place to stay! With a parking space provided there is no need to worry about where to park your car! There was even an outside tap with a hose to clean off our muddy walking boots! The owners left a welcome pack too, which was a very nice touch. The property itself is only 5 min walk into the town centre which is great for a bit of shopping and a coffee or an evening out in Kendal. Will definitely be booking next year. Thank you.

The communication with the owners before the stay was excellent before, during and after. When we arrived the home was beautifully cleaned and had everything you’d need for your stay. There was even a little welcome hamper which was lovely. The home was cosy and felt like a home from home. We had our baby with us and they had provided a high chair and put a stair gate up for us which was a great touch. Would stay again if we visited the area in the future.

“This property is a real gem.”

It's a lovely house, small yet spacious, with everything that we needed and more. It's close to amenities and in a lovely quiet road. It's a very comfortable and practical house to be in and is a very easy location to venture out and explore the Lake District from, either on foot or by car. The space is well designed and tastefully decorated, the garden is a quiet retreat. The welcome basket was a very thoughtful and delicious touch and the house had condiments and washing-up liquid etc and felt far more like staying in a generous friend's beautiful holiday home than staying in a rental. The owners have really thought of everything that you might need, from multiple small chopping boards for a family to cook together to blankets to snuggle under on the sofa. Even somewhere to put your wet and muddy gear! We could walk out to dinner or stay in and enjoy the house. The super fun large TV allowed us to watch the Olympics whilst in the kitchen cooking supper, and we found ourselves picking films that would make good use of the large screen - Jaws! We truly couldn't recommend holidaying in this house more!

“3 Strickland Court delivered everything we (Husband & wife) needed for a weeks break in the Lake District.”

The house is immaculate and everything has been thought of. My initial concerns about noise from neighbours were totally unfounded, this must be one of the quietest streets in the country. Kendal is a great base for exploring the area, it has everything you need but is nowhere near as busy as Windermere, Grasmere etc Recommend a walk up the River Kent to Staveley about 6 miles, the stretch between Burneside and Staveley is stunning and we hardly saw a sole, lunch at the fantastic Hawkshead Brewery in Staveley and then the train back.

Great position for strolling into Kendle centre , which is a. Lovely town with nice walks around & about. A short drive to Windermere a good base to explore the Lakes. If we went to Cumbria again we would definitely stay at “ Strictland Court Tarn How’s ,we highly recommend the property.
