    “Great place for a getaway in the lake district, We had a wonderful time staying at the property.”

    Cosy, warm and modern.

    Cosy, warm and modern. Only two things to note. - One of the windows in the upstairs rooms was broken and would not close, which did make the room quite cold during the night. - The property description says there is a dishwasher installed at the property? This was either very well hidden or there is not one installed. Overall, a great stay was had by all and we would come again.

The property

Holly Rigg is a wonderful, detached property built into a hillside, just outside the centre of Kendal, offering six guests a fantastic base for a Lake District adventure. Ideal for three couples seeking the excitement of the bustling streets of Kendal, alongside the peaceful and breath-taking landscapes of the Lake District, Holly Rigg offers style and comfort. After taking the external steps up to the front door, be welcomed into the hallway before finding the beautiful sitting room. Be struck by the large full-length window, with a rocking chair placed perfectly before the stunning views, illuminating the room with natural light, before admiring the traditional woodburning stove set within the fireplace, sure to keep your warm snuggled on one of the sofas. A piano rests in here too so you can be soothed to the sounds of gentle music from a loved one, before coming together in the large kitchen/diner for an evening of festivities. The shaker style fitted kitchen houses everything you need to whip up delicious meals, whilst the utility houses the washing machine and tumble dryer. Retire to one of the property's three bedrooms, two of which can be found on the ground floor, each enjoying tasteful furnishings, king-size beds, and one boasting a Juliet balcony, served by the bathroom on this floor too. Head downstairs to the lower-ground-floor to discover the third and final bedroom, featuring a double bed and served by the contemporary shower room, decorated with Victorian and subway style tiling. Enjoy a sunny evening out in the private garden with two patio areas and plenty of furniture to relax on, with a summerhouse too and footpaths leading from the garden gate. Local walks are on your doorstep in the form of the Lake District National Park, with a host of peaks and fells just a short, scenic drive away, including Whitbarrow, Cunswick Scar, Gummer's How and Bran Fell, all providing incredible views from the top, well-worth the hike for the breath-taking scenery. Lake Windermere is also just ten miles away, offering everything from watersports like paddle-boarding and kayaking, to relaxing cruises, to Windermere ferries providing efficient travel between the popular town of Ambleside, Lakeside, Bowness and Windermere. One of the UK's most beloved children's author and illustrator is the focus of two popular Lakes' attractions; The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness, and National Trust's Hill Top in Far Sawrey, perfect for any fan of her work.
