“Thimble Cottage is ideally situated to explore the Furness Peninsula, all the places to be explored are within a few miles of each other as the Peninisula is narrower than one realises.”

Our only reservation was the steep narrow staircase to the mezzanine bedroom. Both of us whilst, in the latter decades of life are still pretty fit and on the slim side. We managed the staircase but others perhaps would struggle somewhat with it.. The other worry ...

Our only reservation was the steep narrow staircase to the mezzanine bedroom. Both of us whilst, in the latter decades of life are still pretty fit and on the slim side. We managed the staircase but others perhaps would struggle somewhat with it.. The other worry from a safety point was the balustrade along the edge of the bed area. It has just two horizontal bars with considerable gaps between them, so getting around the foot of the bed can be challenging as you are very aware of the gaps.I think some vertical spindells attached to the bars would go a long way to alleviating the subconscious fear of falling through the gaps.. Just a thought.
Overall the cottage is comfortable quiet and just the tonic we needed.
Thank you.
