Windermere village is only a short stroll away and a nearby footpath will take you to the shores of Windermere. Stretch out on luxurious furnishings around the woodburning stove, with a wall width window pouring light into the room and of course that wonderful view towards Windermere. Dine together in the sophisticated dining room, or chat over breakfast in the separate dining kitchen. Entertaining won't be a problem!The bedrooms are a delight, with the king-size rooms on separate floors; even sharing couples will have plenty of breathing space. There are even three bathrooms so no need for any waiting! On warm days relish the lovely grounds that join the neighbouring property The Grange and your portion of the gardens with private outdoor seating. Bliss! Accommodation in detail Private parking for 3 cars. Entrance porch with cloakroom/4th WC. Dining room with large table, wicker chairs and glazed double doors into the lovely lounge with its wall of windows, leather sofas, inset woodburning stove and TV/DVD. Bright, airy breakfast kitchen with dining table, electric oven, gas hob and dishwasher. On this level is the master king-size bedroom with beautiful oak bed and en suite shower room.The house bathroom is also on this level. Stairs lead down to the 2nd king-size and twin bedroom - both of which have views over gardens to the mountains and here also is the luxurious slate shower room complete with underfloor heating and Villeroy & Boch fittings. Location A self-catering cottage in Windermere is a prime location for soaking up the best of the Lake District. You'll find Windermere a perfect base for exploring the rest of the Lake District, and a delightful Lakeland village to enjoy during your stay. The village is just off the A591, the main route to the heart of the Lakes, and is less than half an hour from the M6. Windermere also has a train station right at the centre of the village. In Windermere you'll find a high-class Booths supermarket, stocked with fine local produce and daily essentials. The headquarters of Lakeland Ltd is a must for anyone who likes to get creative in the kitchen. Windermere high street has a traditional butcher and a selection of shops selling local produce. A clutch of pubs in the village serve good hearty food and Lakeland ales. There is also a selection of tasty cafes for breakfast out and excellent Lake District restaurants. Just a walk or short taxi ride away, the bustling village of Bowness nestles on the eastern shores of Lake Windermere. Hire boats and row boats bob on the water in Bowness Bay, while Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside. The cruises offer buffet meals and live music during summer evening cruises. Wonderful walks begin from Windermere and nearby, including to the spectacular viewpoint at Orrest Head - the first Lakeland summit visited by Alfred Wainwright or follow the nearby footpath to the shores of Windermere at Millerground. You're also only a few miles from Staveley, where you can start a number of stunning walks into the Kentmere Valley, but a scenic drive will also take you to Ambleside, Coniston, the Langdale Valley or Grasmere, home to some of the most memorable walking routes in the Lake District National Park.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.
