“Really enjoyed our stay at The Nest ( 39 The Ironworks ) the property was clean and well presented with good facilities.”

The only comment we would make is that the property would benefit from a basic welcome pack of milk, bread etc. Other self catering accommodation we have stayed in usually contained a welcome pack so surprised this one didn't.

Two sought-after off-road parking spaces greet you upon arrival, along with a private entrance leading you up an internal staircase and to the second floor, where this duplex apartment is located. Upon entering the property you're welcomed into a bright and airy hallway featuring a storage cupboard, providing a handy space to store muddy boots and walking gear before continuing through to the main area of the house. The lower floor of the apartment boasts an open-plan living space, offering a sociable space to gather with the family and enjoy some quality time together, nestling in on the sumptuous corner sofa and putting your feet up to enjoy a spot of television after a busy day. The designated chef will be delighted by the contemporary kitchen, fully-equipped with all of the necessary amenities and featuring a handy dishwasher and washer/dryer. Gather your guests around the dining table to serve up your culinary delights before heading out through the patio doors to the balcony for a refreshing nightcap, soaking in the tranquil view across the River Leven. The lower floor features a king-size bedroom, framing views of the surrounding greenery through the window and offering ample storage space to house your belongings, serviced by the neighbouring family bathroom, fit with a bath and overhead shower, giving you the choice between a leisurely soak or a quick rinse. The upper floor houses two more bedrooms, a double room and a super-king-size, benefiting from a zip/link feature to offer flexible sleeping arrangements, both decorated with a light colour scheme and offering a homely setting to rest your head, serviced by a contemporary shower room. Venture out into the center of Backbarrow where you can experience a challenging escape room at Cliffhanger Rooms followed by a refreshing drink overlooking the River Leven at Whitewater Hotel, a converted 19th-century factory. Take the short stroll to the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway and travel a 3.2-mile-long heritage railway ride in an old-fashioned coach, pulled by a historic steam train to Lakeside Pier and the Windermere Steamers. Head further afield to the popular town of Bowness-on-Windermere, home to a selection of pubs and restaurants including Hole in t' Wall, Bowness' oldest pub, as well as a host of fun-filled attractions to suit all ages, including The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction and the Bowness Bay Marina, where you can hire a boat and enjoy a leisurely float along Lake Windermere. About the location

NEWBY BRIDGE

Bowness-on-Windermere 8 miles.

The small village of Newby Bridge takes its name from the five arched stone bridge built in 1651 over the River Leven. The famous Furness Railway, one of Britain's oldest working standard gauge steam railways, runs between Haverthwaite and Newby Bridge. Visit the Lakeside Hotels and enjoy magnificent views across Windermere and the surrounding fells, or enjoy the Aquarium of the Lakes, where the naturally themed habitats, bring the history of the Lakes vividly to life. Bowness-on-Windermere provides a lovely day out, plus the picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, and admire the views at nearby Gummer's How.
