    “Beautiful house, location was brilliant just outside Ambleside.”

    The private car parking was a huge plus too, can be tricky to find in the lakes. Kitchen was great, beds were all comfy as was the living room (lots of space in living room too). It looked as though it hadn't been used for a week or two, and had therefore not been cleaned immediately before our stay (lots of obvious cobwebs in more than one room). Couple maintenance issues that need addressing, the upstairs sink was leaking, the downstairs en suite shower drain was partially blocked, and the ...

It looked as though it hadn't been used for a week or two, and had therefore not been cleaned immediately before our stay (lots of obvious cobwebs in more than one room). Couple maintenance issues that need addressing, the upstairs sink was leaking, the downstairs en suite shower drain was partially blocked, and the kitchen lights kept flickering if we turned them up (worked fine when on the lowest setting so not a huge issue). Also I would say one drawback about the layout of the house is the downstairs toilet is very cramped. Still an enjoyable stay overall, have been before and probably would stay again if those maintenance issues were sorted.

This contemporary and sophisticated country cottage is found in a dreamy spot just off the absolute heart of picturesque and bustling Ambleside village overlooking the River Rothay. Step foot inside and be instantly charmed by 21st century chic style, which blends so effortlessly with Lakeland life. Two or three couples or a family can spread out here, relax and soak up those three fabulous bathroom facilities together with the wonderful open vaulted living space incorporating true picture windows. Only a stone's throw away is Ambleside, alive with excellent restaurants and bars to tempt you out and here, walks are in abundance straight from your doorstep. This outwardly 'olde-worlde' cottage is designed to provide a perfect holiday at any time of the year and help recharge those batteries. == Accommodation in detail Wander through the garden and gaze towards Loughrigg Fell or over to the meandering River Rothay; entrance hall, a spacious light entrance and then upstairs to that amazing living space complete with vaulted ceiling, adorning beams and picture windows, this is a room to truly relax in and plan the day ahead by the fire. On this level is a king-size bedroom with overlooking the beautiful garden and with full en-suite bathroom. Downstairs again to the large kitchen/ dining room, luxuriously appointed and with a very generous supply of items to satisify the most ambitious cooks and an oven fit for 'Nigella' herself. There are three further bedrooms, one king boasting a luxurious shower facility; the double bedroom and a single bedroom (for occasional use) share a luxurious bathroom with separate WC too. Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
