“I felt that the owners interfered where I would just like to have got on with my holiday choosing to have a gas engineer in during our stay who then forgot his notes so owner had to pop in again.”
Owners rang pretty much everyday which was annoying. Other things to note; the gas fire was difficult to light. The cottage in general was ok, it felt very old, dated and neglected with mid- matched furniture. The property also stated that it had ‘free view’ TV but this did not work, the owner rang mid-way through our stay, again, to ask if it worked.
The details also said that there was a ‘selection of dvd’s’ - there were actually 2 inappropriate for children, books dated from the 1970’s - surely it would only cost a few pounds and trip to charity shop to rectify this - because the weather was bad there was not enough to do in the immediate area. It would also be a good idea for details such as postcodes to nearest shops and pubs, these were too far to walk to with children.
Taps in the bathroom were also very stiff, my 7yr old daughter couldn’t turn them on at all. The door from the living room to the stairs was difficult to open and close.
All in all it was an ok visit, the bad weather we experienced put a stop or spoiled our overall plans, however, the cottage itself did not make it any more enjoyable. I would describe it as an unloved, badly dated cottage in need of some TLC to really make any difference to people truly being able to enjoy their stay. The biscuits and 1pint of milk were a nice touch though!
