The property

Located just a short walk from the southern shores of Thirlmere, Thirlmere Cottage is a much loved retreat to which one can escape and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside and the spectacular, ever changing scenery throughout the year. The great charm of this cottage is its excellent layout and stunning views across the valley and it offers two bedrooms, one with ensuite bathroom, a spacious kitchen / dining room, a cosy lounge with feature fireplace and picture windows, a reading room with additional TV and a family bathroom. On a summers evening relax on the patio with glorious views to the fells. Almost certainly the most centrally located holiday cottage in the Lake District there is easy access to Keswick and the northern Lake District or Grasmere, Ambleside and Windermere to the south. Fell walkers will delight at the choice of walks from the door including Helvellyn and many of Wainwright's Central and Eastern Fells. Mountain bikers can enjoy the great choice of cycling and mountain biking routes in the valley and the cottage stands adjacent to the Sustran National Cycle Route 6 from London to Threlkeld! == Accommodation in detail The front door opens to the hallway, with coat hooks and space for boots and outdoor gear. The hallway runs the length of the cottage linking all the principal rooms, turn right to the living room and kitchen/dinner, turn left to the bedrooms and the reading room. The cosy and welcoming lounge enjoys the corner of the cottage. Large picture windows let the light flood in and offer unparalleled views across the valley where the scene constantly changes with the weather and the seasons. A sofa and armchairs are seated around a characterful slate fireplace making this a lovely room to sit and relax whatever the time of day and the ideal spot from which to keep an eye open for the local wild life including red squirrels that inhabit the nearby woodland along with the majestic herd of red deer that make this valley their home. The open plan kitchen / dining area is well appointed with fitted units, superb local Honister slate worktops, dishwasher, electric hob and oven, fridge, freezer and washing machine. The family, farmhouse style, dining table is a real focal point to gather over breakfast or to socialise over diner, both of which will be preceded by a discussion as to who sits where, as no one will want to sit with their back to the beautiful views of the Wythburn Fells! Choose from two bedrooms, the master bed with double bed, dual aspect views across the garden and an ensuite bathroom, the second, smaller, bedroom can be presented as either a twin or double (please specify when booking) and benefits from an adjacent room that can be used either as a dressing room or alternatively used as a reading or TV room. The family bathroom is presented with a bath with shower over, basin and WC. Stepping back outside, the cottage has a spacious patio, ideal for BBQs or picnics, morning coffee or evening drink! The garden discreetly screens the cottage from the lane and is a haven for wildlife. Private parking is available for two cars. Please note that even though this property is all presented all on the ground floor the sitting room, lounge and master bedroom are set at a slightly lower level than the rest of the cottage and so there a couple of steps down to each of these room. Location Nestled in the very heart of the Lakes, the nearest village is Grasmere, making it a lovely place for a romantic break in peaceful surroundings. With the views beginning at home, you'll be tempted to take on such famous Lake District walks as Silver How, Lang How and Helm Crag. Rising very close to the property is the impressive 'Fairfield Horseshoe' - keen walkers will be spoilt for choice. However a holiday property isn't just a dream for walkers. This historic Lake District village is famed for its connections with the poet William Wordsworth, who lived in the village at Dove Cottage is open to the public as part of the Wordsworth Museum. Artists will enjoy browsing several watercolour galleries in Grasmere, particularly the Heaton Cooper Studio which displays the Cooper family's famous work as well as that of inspired local artists. The village centre has all the facilities you'll need during your self-catering holiday in the heart of the Lakes. From local shops and supermarket to quaint tea rooms and acclaimed restaurants - the Good Food Guide-listed Jumble Room is a treat for a special occasion and the Michelin Star awarded Forestside is just a few minutes' drive from the cottage.

Please note this property has a zip link bed. This will be made as a twin by default. Please contact the call center should you wish it to be a super king.
