“The whole experience of the rental was very easy and this made the stay a lot less stressful.”

We were fortunate with the weather and had 5 of the sunniest days of the 2019 summer season. The garden at July Flowertree Barn is beautiful and breakfast in the morning sun was an added bonus.

The property

For a holiday with 'wow factor' this Visit England 5 Star rated, luxurious 17th century Lakeland barn conversion occupies a sublime setting within gorgeous countryside, close to the southern tip of Lake Windermere & set in beautiful gardens commanding simply gorgeous panoramic views as far as the eye can see... This is the ideal property to spend your precious time together soaking up Lakeland's luxuries. Step inside and take pleasure in the outstanding features echoed throughout, a secluded country Lake District atmosphere blends effortlessly with 21st century life but the views remain exactly the same - walk out through walls of glass onto the terrace or admire from the true picture windows, here you can't help but fall in love with the setting, but take a breath as these far reaching views are simply to die for! This stunning barn is named after a nearby specimen of the sycamore tree which is at its very best in the month of July. Leave aside the 'million dollar views and setting' for a moment and wander into the beautiful garden with patios and furniture, what a great place to unwind and enjoy al-fresco Lakeland life with footpath leading through your paddock and up the fell to where the views over Lake Windermere are magnificent. The sleepy hamlet of Finsthwaite is the setting for this delightful barn only a short distance from Lakeside and the shores of Lake Windermere. Please note this property sleeps a maximum of 8, infants included. == Accommodation in detail Ample parking outside the property with useful courtyard including original shippon and secure bike storage. Entrance at the ground level into a spacious entrance hall with access to the useful utility room housing washing machine and tumble together with a feature Aga (non functioning). On this level is access to the courtyard, a luxury monsoon shower room and the relaxing Media room. Pets are welcome on this level only and then stairs lead to the first floor but the intricate design of this bank barn means that this level opens to the terrace and garden, creating another ground floor level. The living room is a relaxing space full of light through the wall of glass leading out to the terrace and with further picture window and window seat and even owl lights, expected of course in such a beautiful old barn. Location In beautiful gardens with paddock circumscribed by blissful scenery and not forgetting the very nearby stunning walk around High Dam you could easily describe the setting here as secluded, yet only a short mile and you are at the very southern tip of Lake Windermere, in the small hamlet of Lakeside and another wonderfully peaceful setting with both the Lakeside and Swan Hotels serving tempting distractions together with superb leisure club facilities. Lush green countryside, scattered with pretty tarns and embracing all the elegance of the lake and river shores. Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly from Lakeside Pier, ferrying passengers the full length of the lake with stops at Bowness and Ambleside - two popular Lake District holiday destinations that you'll love to explore during your stay. Each has a wide range of shops and attractions, so why not do your shopping trip by boat? Lakeside is home to two fantastic Lake District attractions; the freshwater Lakes Aquarium and one end of the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway - take a short trip on a traditional steam train. Historic sites such as Scott Park Bobbin Mill, Sizergh Castle, Levens Hall and Holker Hall & Gardens are all within easy reach by car, with no need to navigate through busy tourist areas. To your north west, you'll approach the landscapes that famously inspired the children's author Beatrix Potter via peaceful country lanes. Her former home can be visited at Hill Top, in the small village of Near Sawrey. Only a mile or so further, and you'll reach the enchanting village of Hawkshead - a wonderful place to while away a day, exploring quaint cobbled streets and a blissfully car-free village centre. For some of the best mountain biking territory you will find Grizedale Forrest a must.

About the location

Newby Bridge 1.2 miles; Bowness-on-Windermere 8.7 miles.

Set on the southern shores of Lake Windermere, the small, sleepy hamlet of Lakeside offers a peaceful getaway location, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the Lake District’s popular attractions, but still within easy reach of them. Whether you decide to discover the area in the car, by foot, bike, boat or steam, there’s plenty to see nearby to keep the whole family content. The ferry dock offers the chance to travel by boat to Waterhead or Bowness, or take a shorter trip to the National Trust’s Fell Foot Park, across the water, which offers pretty grounds set alongside the very tip of the lake, providing plenty of places for picnics, paddling, games and gentle strolls on sunny afternoons. Situated alongside the Lakeside Station is the long-standing Lakeside and Haverwaithe Railway, home to Britain’s oldest standard gauge steam engine, on which you can travel back in time along this well-loved Heritage line, and where little ones will delight in meeting Thomas and his friends. Visit the Lakes Aquarium to uncover the often-secretive world of life below water, where you’ll chance upon hundreds of captivating creatures that feature in the surrounding rivers, lakes and sea. There are wonderful, well-signed walks to be enjoyed in the immediate area, including the 5-mile route to Finsthwaite’s High Dam, which trails from Lakeside through pleasant woodlands and meadows. Lakeside offers an exclusive holiday location with all of the Lake District’s delights at your fingertips.
