“We cannot fault the time that we had at Slaters Rest, we certainly came away devastated as we wanted to stay longer.”

The cottage had everything that you needed and the presentation of the property was excellent. Bathrooms and kitchen were high spec, so much more than you would need for a holiday. The location was second to none with essential facilities nearby, pubs and shop. Arrival information was adequate and so we were settled very quickly. The location was second to none with essential facilities nearby, pubs and shop. Arrival information was adequate and so we were settled very quickly. The weather was fantastic, gorgeous blue skies one day and then thick crisp snow the next. So picturesque which just added to the brilliant time. We truly recommend this property and will certainly aim to return again. The only slight negative was the broken window in the front door. When we enquired about it we were reassured that the owners were aware of it and it was safe.

Thank you for your review, I’m so pleased that you had a lovely holiday and that Slater’s Rest had everything you needed for an enjoyable break. The broken glass in the front door was caused by storm damage immediately before Christmas so has taken a little longer than normal to fix, but we are hoping that it will be replaced in the next few days. There is a temporary fix in place so it is secure, and we did ask Lakelovers to inform you of this before your arrival so I’m sorry if this did not happen. We hope to welcome you back to Slater’s Rest at sometime in the future. Property Owner

LANGDALE

Often referred to as Great Langdale, to distinguish it from nearby Little Langdale, Langdale's name comes from the Old Norse for 'long valley'. Langdale is a u-shaped valley formed by glaciers. It encompasses the two villages of Chapel Stile and Elterwater, as well as the hamlet of High Close. Set in the centre of the Lake District, Langdale is probably best known for its mountains, from the Langdale Pikes – a group of mountains on the northern side of the village – to England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike. Rock climbers will also love Raven Crag, Gimmer Crag and White Ghyll.
