“Holiday very enjoyable, cottage was very homely and in a beautiful area.”

People at the local pub and shop where very inviting and made our experience lovely. Facilities at the cottage where useful and we had everything we needed. With signal being poor in the village the WiFi at the cottage was more than useful and worked perfectly. The cottage is a little bit difficult to find on arrival as postcode took us to a slightly different place but may have been my sat navs fault. Everything else was great and would highly recommend to someone else or return myself in the ...

The property

Wow, what a view from this sophisticated first floor retreat apartment which gazes out over the Langdale Valley, from a peaceful location in the sleepy village of Chapel Stile. It's a great base for couples, families and of course keen walkers... The open plan layout gives you plenty of space to relax, unwind and drink in the views through picture windows. Wake up to the sounds of sheep, try catching the sunrise on the fells. Sink into the leather sofa in front of the woodburning stove and swap stories around the dining table. If you don't feel like cooking, why not take a 2 minute stroll to your local pub? == Accommodation in detail Private parking for 1 car. Private entrance and porch to this single-level accommodation. The open plan lounge/kitchen/dining room is an array of windows and views. The lounge is beautifully presented with leather sofa, woodburning stove and TV/DVD and wi-fi service. The modern kitchen is well equipped and open to the dining area. Two bedrooms; 1 kingsize, 1 zip link (twin or super king - please specify bed configuration when booking). Kingsize has an en-suite with walk-in shower. Separate bathroom with shower over bath. Location Chapel Stile is a delightful village nestled in the famous Langdale Valley, which is home to some of the most impressive scenery in the Lake District. A natural choice for a walking or climbing holiday, the valley offers everything from easy strolls in stunning surroundings, to challenging hikes high into the world famous Langdale Pikes. Even though it is only a convenient 4 miles from vibrant and bustling Ambleside as well as the shores of Lake Windermere, Chapel Stile is immersed in peaceful, untouched, landscapes. But at Ambleside you'll be able to take advantage of the shops and supermarket to stock up for self-catering, browse sophisticated shops and clothing boutiques as well as plenty of expert outdoor shops. The tourist information centre is a good place for information on walks and routes, or maybe you'd like to laze in one of the cafes or visit the roman fort? Don't forget, lake cruises also depart from Ambleside to Bowness and Lakeside - a great way to explore amidst fabulous scenery without driving too far at all. A wide range of other excellent Lake District country pubs are scattered throughout the area, serving locally brewed ale and hearty food. The Glass House in Ambleside and the famous Drunken Duck Inn and Restaurant in Outgate are both highly recommended. This is a wonderful place to experience the best of the Lake District, and also the hidden gems lying off the beaten path. Enjoy!

Set in the centre of the Lake District, Langdale is probably best known for its mountains, from the Langdale Pikes – a group of mountains on the northern side of the village – to England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike.
