“We thoroughly enjoyed spending Christmas at Thyme Out.”

A lovely warm, comfortable and extremely well equipped property with picturesque views from all rooms. We appreciated the homely touches too. We hope to return to take advantage of the delightful garden. Hiking from the door was a bonus. We couldn’t find fault with anything at all. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Thank you for your lovely comments which are very much appreciated. As you say we do have from our cottage picturesque views of Troutbeck Valley in winter and summer and several walks from our front door. Hope you will return to enjoy our garden in the summer with a glass of wine of course. The owners. Property Owner

Outside the private and pretty garden provides the ideal spot for morning coffee, or a glass or two before dinner! And yet you are surrounded by fabulous walking territory straight from your doorstep and we have to mention the intriguing name, inspiring you to take time out from your busy home life and enjoy a break in the lakes at Thyme Out. The picturesque conservation village, Troutbeck is renowned for its numerous listed buildings and vernacular architecture and there is a strong and vibrant community with a village shop, visiting post office service, an excellent pub serving hearty meals and local ales as well as a church and never too far from the stunning shores of Lake Windermere, perfect! == Accommodation in detail Park your vehicle right outside and if you have two, there is additional parking nearby. Instantly catch your breath, gazing at that view and enter via a useful entrance porch, ideal for walking clobber. A slate entrance into the stunning open plan living space, flooded with light and gazing at the panoramic view over the valley to surrounding mountains. Location A romantic cottage in the Troutbeck Valley provides a Lake District holiday experience like no other. Still only a short drive from shops and restaurants in Windermere village, Lake Windermere itself and the vibrant lake shore communities of Bowness and Ambleside, the Troutbeck Valley is a peaceful haven away from the rush. Spectacular Lakeland fells surround this lush valley; scattered with historic Lakeland houses and pretty woodlands, and blessed with the Mortal Man in Troutbeck village, renowned for their excellent food, Cumbrian produce and cosy fireside ambience. There are endless opportunities for romantic Lake District walks from your doorstep. Taking the car over Kirkstone Pass towards Ullswater, you'll pass Brotherswater - one of our favourite spots for a leisurely Sunday stroll. About the location

TROUTBECK

Windermere 3 miles; Ambleside 4 miles.

The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The ‘Windermere Steamboat Museum’ displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. Within easy reach of destinations such as Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains, Troutbeck is ideally situated for exploring all that the region has to offer.
