“We had a great stay at the cottage.”

The views are amazing and despite some changeable weather, we did plenty of walking (and some running) off the doorstep. There is plenty to explore in the area and we were lucky to see lots of wildlife as we took on the local Wainwrights. The cottage is very comfortable and has a rustic charm. Neighbours were really friendly and we enjoyed the feeling of being quite remote!

The property

Settled in the peaceful hamlet of Kentmere in the beautiful Kentmere valley, this stone cottage takes its name from the breath-taking views of the surrounding Fells and is a spectacular and traditional base for a trip to the Lake District.

Kentmere Fell Views is a three-bedroom cottage ideal for three couples or a family seeking a peaceful and scenic retreat to Cumbria, with incredible vistas on your doorstep.

Be welcomed into the spacious boot room where you can store boots and coats, with a door from here into the utility room, and another door taking you to the beautiful kitchen/diner.

Come upon bespoke oak units and a large range cooker settled by the dining table, a great place to host delicious feasts, with French doors looking out onto the patio.

Head down the corridor which has a few steps and find a ground-floor shower room and a back kitchen which is equipped with further appliances for rustling up tasty meals, with the addition of a washer/dryer too. Retire to the sitting room following a busy day outdoors and be warmed by the woodburning stove as you sink into the large corner sofa or one of the armchairs as you watch the TV, a great way to end another wonderful day.

The original cottage staircase made from lakeland slate which is slightly narrow and uneven just adds further charm to this old property, leading you to an oak floorboard landing; from here discover three bedrooms to choose from all featuring rustic beams and pretty shutters, comprising of a king-size and two doubles, with another shower room up here boasting a large enclosure to freshen up in.

The beautiful garden is a haven to enjoy with a patio hosting outdoor furniture for dinner alfresco, while the wonderful lawn space is a welcome addition, and the incredible views can continue to impress.

Begin your adventures by exploring the Kentmere Fells on your doorstep, with this beautiful area perfect for walks outside the front door.

The town of Staveley lies around four miles south and is the nearest place to find amenities including pubs, shops and restaurants, with Windermere being around eight miles away, showcasing local and independent shops and more traditional pubs to enjoy.

Visit The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction in Bowness-on-Windermere before hopping on a cruise along Lake Windermere to take you to another town; go north to Ambleside to see the Roman Fort or head south to find Lakeside, home to the Lakes Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway.

Enjoy the lake in many more ways too with boat hire so you can go at your own pace and even explore Windermere's many bays and islands, or try out a watersport like kayaking, paddle-boarding, swimming or even water-skiing, there's something for everyone and plenty of local organisers to make it happen!

More day out can be enjoyed in Kendal which lies within easy reach, home to the Lakeland Museum, while also nearby is the amazing Sizergh Castle, well worth a visit.
