“This property is not fit for rental and holiday lettings and we were very disappointed by our overall experience.”

Every room in the Belfry has black mould throughout - all windows and frames are covered in black mould, there was black mould on the bed sheets and on the curtains. Every room in the Belfry has black mould throughout - all windows and frames are covered in black mould, there was black mould on the bed sheets and on the curtains. We were unable to sleep in the main bedroom as there was such a mouldy stench and I have left the property with a stuffed nose. I contacted Sykes who did send out workmen however it was a partial treatment and requires much deeper work and attention to sort the problem. Other issues include the en suite bathroom as it stunk and the drainage didn’t work properly. Small things like the 5 bulb chandelier in the main bedroom only had 3 bulbs working, were disappointing. Lastly we were awoken on Friday morning at 7:30am to a leaf blower outside the bedroom windows which went on for an hour - no sleep ins at the Belfry! Overall the property has real potential - it’s nicely decorated, lovely furnishings (the table, chairs and couch) and it’s in a great location however the fundamental issues with the property far outweigh any of the benefits. Given the price we paid to stay at the Belfry, it fell well below expectations and the cleanliness alone is enough for me to not recommend it to anyone.

Dear Clare, We are very sorry you've not had the best experience at The Belfry. We have read and understood your comments. Thankfully, the maintenance team from Lakelovers attended at your request and resolved most of the issues during your stay. We have investigated the mold issue you found and it has now been treated, although we have to express the extent was not as bad as this review suggested. New checks will be now put in place and any issues dealt with as soon as they arise. The on suite bathroom had a small drainage problem just like any household and from time to time needs unblock treatment which has now been carried out. The cleaning team have been asked to carry this out more frequently. The light bulbs that were out have also been replaced. We hope you return to the Lake District soon and have a nicer experience. Thank you. Property Owner
