Are you interested in renting a cottage in Grasmere for between 6 and 8 people? Then Lakelovers have a huge selection to choose from. Grasmere is one of the most popular of the Lake District villages, and its location is a big factor in this; it is both the poetic and geographical heart of Lakeland, and is perfect as a base for exploring the whole of the region. The village itself has much to offer. Row out on the lake in a boat hired from Faeryland, a café that simply could not be more prettily situated, nestling on the beautiful shores of Grasmere. Taste Sarah Nelson’s traditional recipe gingerbread from the quaint and tiny shop in the village centre, who’s ingredients are a guarded secret. Learn more about the great Romantic poet at the Wordsworth Museum at Dove Cottage, his home before his move to nearby Allen Bank.

Grasmere boasts a good selection of local bars, often staging live local music, and Tweedies at the Dale Lodge Hotel has an excellent beer garden for sitting out in the summer evenings, or whiling away a lazy afternoon. There are several eateries, including the highly recommended Grasmere Hotel Restaurant, and many appealing tearooms.

The Jumble Room is also a great dining experience, although make sure you book early with this one as it’s very popular. In the summer, the Grasmere Sports offer lively entertainment, and the church is hung with flowers during the ‘Rushbearing’ festival. Between July and September the village hall plays host to the Lakes Artists Society summer exhibition, show-casing around 300 works from local artists. They also exhibit here at Easter time every year. There is a local beer festival in the early autumn that is well worth attending.

This place inspired Wordsworth to know it as ‘loveliest spot that man hath ever found’. If you will not take his word for it, any doubts will disappear as you see the morning sun falling on the pale mists over Grasmere and Rydal Water, sit by the rocky shores of Easdale Tarn high in the hills. That work was an elegy for a dying pastoralism, a simple country life lived in harmony with the landscape that Wordsworth felt us to be losing. This is the place to recapture a feel for that life, and to escape the ties of the modern world for just a little while.

There are walks for all abilities right on your doorstep when you stay in Grasmere. With Grasmere situated in a valley you are spoilt for choice with the number of walks that are available to you, The Lion and the Lamb, The Horseshoe, Helvellyn to name a few. There really is something here for all abilities.

We have a superb offering of self-catering properties in Grasmere. If you want to bring your dog, if you would like a wood fire, or desire a traditional slate cottage, or a house with a fully modern interior and facilities, we have something for you.

Select from one of our cottages in Grasmere that sleep 6-8 people and are perfect for the family break or that long awaited catch up with your friends.
