Nowhere is the saying ‘the kitchen is the heart of the home’ more true than here at Above Town – the owners have transformed the rear of the property to feature a modern kitchen with central island unit, a cosy Aga, a fantastic dining table and comfortable seating to make this room the focal point of the house where everybody can gather to wine, dine and socialise.
Located only a few minutes’ walk from the centre of the bustling and vibrant village of Ambleside with a plethora of bars, cafes, restaurants and shops, Above Town, is conveniently located for all the village has to offer.
Relax in the lounge with cosy log fire and views to the fells, unwind in the secret garden with a morning coffee, and enjoy getting out and about on the fells with walks direct from the secret garden gate including the popular walk to Wansfell with its breath taking views across the whole of the southern Lake District or the nearby Stock Ghyll Falls.

Accommodation in detail
The property is approached from the road and first parking space via a flight of stone steps through the front garden with a comfortable bench from which to enjoy the roof top views across Ambleside. The front door opens onto a traditional hallway with ample coat hanging and a place for boots and shoes.
The front lounge is comfortable with a cosy log burning stove and views to the Lakeland Fells. The whole of the rear ground floor of the house has been opened up to create a fantastic family kitchen diner complete with a traditional Aga, electric oven and gas hob, a large central island unit and a large dining table around which an evening can be spent relaxing and socialising.
The rear yard leads to the utility room with washing machine and freezer. The adjacent outhouse also offers secure mountain bike storage. A locked door then opens to steps to the secret garden and from here further steps lead to the second private parking space located off the small lane above the cottage.
Ambleside village is one of the Lake District's gems; traditional yet cosmopolitan, friendly and full of quirky Cumbrian surprises. An excellent range of local shops provide everything you need to stock up the kitchen, a wide range of excellent restaurants are available to try (including those on the stunning shores of Lake Windermere), Lakeland pubs to wind down in and an excellent cinema too. The main attraction is of course Lake Windermere's shore, and within a few minutes you'll be walking on to Waterhead Pier and taking a leisurely lake cruise to Bowness or Lakeside.
For day trips throughout the Lakes, Ambleside is a great place to start. The A591 leads north to Rydal Water, Grasmere, Coniston and Langdale, or south to Troutbeck, Windermere and Bowness.
