Within easy walking distance of Waterhead Pier at the north of Lake Windermere, from where steamers regularly depart to Bowness and Lakeside.
For those who enjoy the great outdoors, a plethora of walks depart from Ambleside; enjoy the lakeshore walk along Rydal Water and Grasmere, the popular hike up Loughrigg Fell or, for those who enjoy the high fells, the spectacular Fairfield Horseshoe can be completed directly from the door. Come and go as you please, with no parking struggles at the end of the day. A great base at any time of year.

Private parking for 1 car. Access to communal gardens, shared with other properties in the development. Entrance to a communal hallway with secure telephone entry system. Private internal entrance to a hallway with cloaks cupboard and space for walking gear. Comfortable lounge with dining area, deep-cushioned furnishings and TV/DVD. A French window offers access from this room to a secluded patio area.
The fitted kitchen is well equipped and has a small casual dining/breakfast area. The double bedroom is bright and welcoming and offers an ensuite WC with basin. It is complemented by a second bedroom with bunk beds, and a luxurious bathroom with shower over bath.
Ambleside is easily found at the north end of Lake Windermere, via the famously scenic A591 road. The A591 is the main route into the heart of the Lakes, so touring by car is a breeze. Ambleside village is as much a place to embrace Lakeland village life as it is a base for exploring and walking in the Lake District. With a backdrop of lake shore and breathtaking Lakeland Fells, it's a wonderful base for a Lake District holiday even if you don't plan to stray too far from your base.
The village is steeped with history, scattered with attractive traditional Lake District cottages, and the contemporary shopping streets remain a delight to explore. Sample excellent cafes and acclaimed Lake District restaurants such as The Glass House, and stock up the kitchen or pick up a picnic at one of the excellent delis, such as the renowned Lucy's of Ambleside. Ambleside also has two quirky cinemas; Zeffirellis Cinema, Pizzeria and Jazz Bar, and Fellinis Vegetarian Restaurant and Studio Cinema.
Historic attractions include the much photographed 'Bridge House', which has to be seen to be believed, and the Roman for Galava just outside the village centre. William Wordsworth's former family home can be visited close by at Rydal Mount & Gardens - a must during your stay. If you are a Wordsworth fan, remember that Grasmere (his home during his most renowned years of work) is only a short drive north on the A591.
