Accommodation In Detail
Briarwood House was built in 2004 and was very much designed with style. The front door opens to a spacious hallway that runs across the ground floor from the front door to the conservatory dining room at the rear and patio doors that open to the garden.
The bright and airy lounge is furnished with quality leather sofas which are arranged around the large screen TV and slate gas fire and offers plenty of space for everyone together in the evening. To the rear of the house the snug / reading room is a great corner to escape with a good book, the weekend papers or to send the kids to watch a movie, patio doors open on to the garden. The large conservatory is presented as the dining room with a oak dining table with comfortable leather covered benches and is super for family celebrations or social dinners with friends. The large, fitted kitchen of handmade oak is complemented with smart black granite worktops and is equipped with five ring electric gas hob, double electric over, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and quality inventory. The family breakfast table is the ideal gathering point at the start of the day. Off the kitchen there is a handy boot and utility room with plenty of space for boots and outdoor gear and this is also home to the washing machine and tumble drier.
Choose from any one of five well-furnished bedrooms. The first is conveniently located on the ground floor and can either be presented as a king size or twin bedded room and benefits from an ensuite shower room with shower cubicle, basin and WC. Climb the oak staircase to the first floor and the large galleried landing leads to the four remaining bedrooms; two are presented with double beds and both benefit from ensuite shower rooms with shower cubicle, basin and WC. The final two rooms can be presented as either king size or twin bedded rooms, one benefits from an superb ensuite bathroom with bath with shower over, basin and wc and the other is adjacent to lovely family bathroom with double ended bath, large shower cubicle, basin and WC.
To the front of the house there is a small garden and to the rear there is ample parking for four cars, and a private patio with bistro furniture. A locked shed provides secure storage for mountain bikes.
Keswick is one of the Lake District's most popular destinations. This friendly town hosts the very popular twice weekly market that has recently won the coveted “Best Outdoor Market” in the Great British Market Awards. The village also offers a fantastic array of shops offering everything from craft bakeries and local produce, antiques, crafts and much, much more.
If you are looking for somewhere to eat and drink, a week just won't be long enough to sample the great range of pubs, restaurants, bistros, cafes and wine bars! For a great evening out why not visit the 100 year old Alhambra offering first class cinema entertainment in traditional surroundings or enjoy an evening at “the most beautiful and friendly theatre in Britain”, the 400 seat Theatre By The Lake on the shores of Derwentwater.
Enjoy a cruise on Derwentwater, walk onto the fells; Cat Bells, Skiddaw, Coledale Horeshoe and Blencathra are all nearby, head underground at Honister Slate Mines, enjoy mountain biking in Whinlatter Forest.
For day trips throughout the Lake District, Ullswater is a short drive away offering lake cruises, great walking and the beautiful Aira Force Waterfall, Buttermere and Crummock Water offer sublime scenery. Ashness Bridge and Surprise View situated above the Borrowdale Valley should not be missed and perhaps even a cup of tea and homemade cake in the unspoilt village of Watendlath.
