The property

Dating back to 1640, this cosy Lake District cottage with a picture postcard white exterior, deep-silled cottage windows, log burner and old oak beams. This chocolate box cottage is an ideal place to relax and unwind. The owners have completed a sympathetic refurbishment to provide a modern twist to an otherwise traditional Lakeland forester's cottage with features such as broadband. Bowness village is only a few miles away (just follow the lakeside road north past "Millionaires' Row") and for a special treat visit one of our favourite Lake District country pubs, the Mason's Arms. It's only a short drive away at Bowland Bridge. == Accommodation in detail Traditional porch with slate floor. The cosy living / dining room is full of character; deep windows, oak beams, comfy sofas and log burner set in a Lakeland fireplace with solid oak flooring and oak furniture. Modern, solid oak kitchen with a stable door leading to the furnished rear seating area. Staircase to first floor. A pretty bedroom, with King size bed and a marble tiled bathroom, with shower over bath. There is also ample off road parking, which is located in the layby directly outside the garage which belongs to Burrow Cottage Location Only a few miles from Bowness Bay on the eastern shores of Lake Windermere, Burrow Cottage is perfectly placed for a convenient Lake District self-catering break with easy access to the Southern Lakes. The property is located on the main lake shore road A592, which runs the full length of Lake Windermere from Newby Bridge and Lakeside, to Bowness and north to Ambleside - a journey you might also take on a Lake Windermere Cruise. For shopping, dining and evenings out, Bowness is your first call. You'll find a wealth of fantastic Lakeland pubs (where yacht owners and boat-enthusiasts recap their days!) a range of excellent restaurants and several lively bars. The Royalty Cinema provides for those quieter evenings, and the Old Laundry Theatre is well worth a check. Head over Cartmel Fell from the eastern shores of Lake Windermere and you'll find more wonderful countryside. Walk up Gummers How for spectacular views of Lake Windermere, then descend into the serene Lyth Valley for a fabulous pub meal at one of the area's renowned Lakeland gastropubs such as the Brown Horse at Winster. This is a superb Lake District self-catering location, with the opportunity for peace and quiet, vibrant village life and exhilarating walking. Within ten minutes drive you can find Windermere golf club and the fabulous arts and crafts house, Blackwell. Alternatively leave the car and take a walk up Moor How, the perfect short walk to watch the sunset over Langdale Pikes.
