The elegant and well-equipped kitchen / dining room is flooded with light through gothic-style doors, which lead to the garden. Sumptuous lounge with feature fireplace. A few minutes from the village is the shore of Lake Windermere at Waterhead. Here, enjoy lake shore dining, stunning lake views and of course the opportunity to take a romantic cruise on Lake Windermere - a great way to explore Bowness or Lakeside without taking your car.
Ambleside also provides a great starting point for your day trips throughout the must-see areas of the Lake District. The A591 road leads north past Rydal Water to historic Grasmere; a world-famous Lake District village surrounded by the the poet William Wordsworth's favourite landscapes. Visit his former home at Dove Cottage, and explore Beatrix Potter's farmhouse at Hill Top.
The A593 leads only a short distance to spectacular scenery and breathtaking walking in the Langdale Valley, and on to picturesque Coniston.
Our tip for a romantic Sunday drive from Ambleside, is to join the famous Kirkstone Pass road which leads past serene Brotherswater on to Ullswater. The Queen's Head or the Mortal Man in Troutbeck can also be reached via this route, and are two of the finest gastropubs in the Lake District.
