Accommodation In Detail
Pet friendly two bedroom property sleeping up to four persons, overlooking Lake Windemere. Cragholme provides a ground floor apartment with breathtaking views of Windermere from the main living area.
The front door opens to a hall way leading to the living area to the front of the propert and the bedrooms to the rear. The open plan lounge, kitchen, dinner have a wonderful view of Lake Windermere just a few yards from the cottage. A comfortable leather corner sofa, cosy log burning stove and large screen TV offer a welcome retreat. The high quality fitted kitchen is complete with electric hob and oven, fridge/freezer and dishwasher and the family dining table is the ideal spot for a hearty breakfast or family dinner. To the rear of the property there are two welcoming, well-furnished bedrooms. The first is a double with ensuite shower room and the second room has twin beds, and is complemented with a family bathroom with bath with shower over. Both bedroom's have TVs.
Parking is next to the property alongside the private patio area. A washer drier is available in in the utility cupboard off the hallway.
Cragholme is perfectly located right in the soul of the Lake District, why not take a trip a few miles up the road to Bowness Village; where you can begin to fall in love with the Lakes. The village is scattered with cafes and restaurants serving local Lakeland delights and there is heaps of choice for an evening out including a cinema, theatre and even a lakeshore nightclub! There are plenty of accessible essentials such as greengrocers and supermarkets and even some less essential, but still fabulous, shops where you can purchase Lake District memorabilia.
Lake Windermere's list of activities are endless, if you're in the Lake District for a lively, fun-filled holiday then why not hire a rowing boat, canoe or kayak? Or maybe you are more confident on dry land, you could take a stroll up Orrest Head in Windermere, a very central and easy walk providing fabulous views. For a more strenuous walk you could head up Gummers How, a short steep route to a viewpoint high above the Lake, which on a clear day, provides a panoramic view of Lake Windermere. After soaking up the breath taking views, on the way back down to reality, visit the Mason's Arms at Strawberry Bank for some pub grub.
If it's history you're after, you can take a car ferry from Bowness to the west shore of Lake Windermere, where you can delve into the area which spurred Beatrix Potter to write many of her famous novels.
As a Guest at Hill of Oaks, you will receive two tickets to either Ullswater Steamers; where you get the chance to glide across what's known as 'England's most beautiful Lake' or Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway; The Lake District's longest, oldest and most scenic railway. Ullswater is only a 45 minute drive from the site and Ravenglass is only a 50 minute drive along the coast road.
