Heading out to explore, the village pub, ‘The Black Labrador’ is only a five minute stroll away and there are a great selection of country pubs all within a few minutes’ Drive. Recently included within Lonely Planet’s list of “the most beautiful places on earth”, the Lyth Valley is a rural idyll whatever the time of year and offers a great selection of country rambles. For those wanting to explore further afield, the central Lake District, with all it has to offer is within easy reach, the market town of Kendal is just down the road and the foodie village of Cartmel is just across the valley.
Accommodation In Detail
Approached down a small lane, Ellerbeck Bridge Cottage sits at the end of a terrace of cottages. The front door opens to the hallway that opens to the snug / reading room with leather sofas, electric log effect fire, TV and doors to the patio.
The end of the hallway opens to the modern fitted kitchen where you will find everything you need to cook everything from a hearty Cumbrian breakfast to a meal for a special family occasion. Overlooking the garden is the conservatory / garden room with breakfast table and comfy seating making it a great place to relax in a morning with a coffee and the papers. Patio doors open from here to the garden beyond.
The large triple aspect lounge / dining room is the real heart of the house with large, comfy, leather sofas, large screen TV, log burning stove, large family dining room and large patio doors leading to the patio and garden beyond.
A handy utility area just off the kitchen is a great place to store outdoor gear and has a washer drier and American style fridge/freezer.
Climbing the stairs to the first floor, the landing runs the length of the cottage and leads to a large dual aspect master bedroom with king size beds and beautiful views to the beck, woods to the side of the cottage and across the valley to the rear. The second bedroom, complete with ensuite walk in shower and has a king size double bed. Bedroom three offers twin beds. All the bedrooms are decorated and furnished to a high standard with matching oak furniture. The large family bathroom comes complete with large feature bath, shower cubicle, basin and WC. Also off the landing there is an additional WC.
Back downstairs, patio doors lead to the garden that has been professionally landscaped to incorporate two large patios, a backside terrace and lawned garden area. The front garden is made up of an alpine rockery and there is private parking for four cars. Beyond the garden there is native deciduous woodland that is a haven for wildlife including birds of all kinds, red squirrels, badger and deer.

The Lyth Valley is located to the east of Lake Windermere, overlooked by famous Lake District walks on Scout Scar and Whitbarrow Scar. The sheltered valley is famous for its damson orchards, which give rise to gorgeous white blossom in spring.
The landscape is scattered with country homes and rural Lake District cottages, as well as a choice of several acclaimed Lake District country pubs, such as The Punch Bowl at Crosthwaite and the Masons Arms at Strawberry Bank. A romantic walk nearby is the ascent of Gummers How, which offers simply wonderful views of Lake Windermere from the top. The Cartmel Fell tarns walk is also a lovely afternoon's worth, starting at Bowland Bridge's historic church.
