Fellgate Farm is a recently refurbished farmhouse located in the beautiful village of Helton. The house was built in the early 18th century and oozes charm and character alongside incredibly well designed and appointed spaces. As soon as you enter the property it is apparent that much care and effort has gone into the small touches and finer details that makes a house a home: the personality of the house creates an atmosphere you won’t want to leave.
The property is surrounded by gardens with outside seating and BBQ and offers spacious accommodation throughout. Fellgate Farm sleeps 6 guests with the master bedroom offering en-suite facilities and with both the second and third bedrooms having their own dedicated bathrooms.
The kitchen at Fellgate Farm is the heart of the house and a very sociable space with a beautiful Aga and stand-alone island big enough to have the whole party involved in the cooking. The kitchen also features high quality appliances and modern electric oven and induction hob.
The dining room and lounge have a warm and homely feel and with the fire roaring it is the perfect place to relax for the evening. Featuring a piano, guitar, games, and much more, this is a wonderful space to enjoy being together with beautiful window seats and comfy sofas.
Fellgate Farm is situated in the small settlement of Helton, a scattering of farms and properties near the popular village of Askham, a couple of miles from Ullswater.
From the north there is easy access from the M6 motorway and A66, with the cottage only 6 miles from Penrith. Take a trip to the Central Lakes over the stunning Kirkstone Pass which drops down into unique rugged beauty of Ullswater. Although welcoming to visitors and outdoor adventurers, the area remains unspoilt and peaceful and is quieter than the more central lakes.
Ullswater is regarded by many to be the most beautiful of all the lakes in the Lake District. Much of the lake, its shore and surrounding fells are accessible for visitors to explore, where you will find some of the finest walking, cycling and water sports including sailing and kayaking, along with the amenities of the lakeside villages. One of the most glorious walks in the National Park is the Roman road known as High Street that runs along the eastern fells of Ullswater, and can be accessed by foot from Fellgate Farm. Hiking can be combined with a trip on the Ullswater Steamer which stops at Pooley Bridge, Howtown, Glenridding and Aira Force. For those who like more challenging walks, the surrounding area has some of the best walking country in the Lakes, including Helvellyn, the third highest peak in England with its precipitous Striding Edge. There are a number of activity centres in the area including water sports tuition and hire, adventure activities and bike hire.
Fellgate Farm is within easy distance of Aira Force and Gowbarrow, a National Trust property; a beautiful waterfall with woodlands and landscaped glades and stunning views. Historic properties including Lowther Castle and Dalemain House are nearby and the market town of Penrith is a delight for local food specialities.
