Tucked away just a stone throw from the village's main street in the heart of the bustling and vibrant Lakeland village of Ambleside, the cottage oozes charm from the moment you set foot through the door. A fully equipped modern kitchen, provide all you could need whilst the dining room provides the ideal place for a relaxing breakfast or socialise with friends over dinner.
Upstairs, the cosy lounge with log burning stove is a tranquil retreat and a great place for watching the comings and goings in the village from the window seats. Two comfortable bedrooms are complimented with a spacious bathroom with a free standing feature bath.
Ghyll Foot is a real hideaway from which to explore, walk to the nearby Stock Ghyll Falls, leave the car behind for the day and enjoy the beautiful walk to Grasmere along the shores of Rydal Water, the more adventurous can seek out the challenging Fairfield Horseshoe one of the classic mountain walks the Lake District has to offer, literary fans can easily visit Rydal Mount, the family home of William Wordsworth, or simply enjoy the eclectic selection of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes that Ambleside has to offer.
Accommodation in detail
The property is set over the three upper floors of this characterful property. The lower ground floor is the local traditional barbers shop, handy for a quick trim before an evening out! The cottage is accessed by a small flight of stone steps and on entering there is a handy storage cupboard for coats, boots and walking gear. The bay window in the dining room is an ideal spot to sit and read and the cosy cottage kitchen is well appointed and equipped and there is also a handy utility room.
Upstairs there is a charming lounge overlooking the village complete with window seats and a cosy log burning stove. Please be careful whilst using the wooden stair case. Off the landing is a double bedroom that is tastefully furnished and a WC. On the top floor and in the eves is the master bedroom complete with king size bed (this bedroom can be made up as a twin bedded room if requested in advance of arrival) and a spacious bathroom with a large freestanding character bath with shower over. Both bedrooms feature a television. To the rear of the property there is a small
yard and to the side of the property a traditional bench, an ideal spot to sit and watch the world go by!
Ambleside village is one of the Lake District's gems; traditional yet cosmopolitan, friendly and full of quirky Cumbrian surprises. An excellent range of local shops provide everything you need to stock up the kitchen, a wide range of excellent restaurants are available to try (including those on the stunning shores of Lake Windermere), Lakeland pubs to wind down in and an excellent cinema too. The main attraction is of course Lake Windermere's shore, and within a few minutes you'll be walking on to Waterhead Pier and taking a leisurely lake cruise to Bowness or Lakeside.
For day trips throughout the Lakes, Ambleside is a great place to start. The A591 leads north to Rydal Water, Grasmere, Coniston and Langdale, or south to Troutbeck, Windermere and Bowness.
