Bowness is a lively Lake District holiday destination, with a vibrant high street of shops, cafes, restaurants and cinema. From the lake shore, hire boats come and go and the Windermere Lake 'steamers' ferry passengers the full length of the lake with stops at Ambleside and Lakeside.
