Accommodation in detail
A driveway to three properties including Hartwood with parking. There are two entrances to this property but we will walk you onto the magnificent slate infinity terrace into the open plan living space and what a view before you even step foot inside. The open plan living space is entered through the large new conservatory that brings the garden into the house (note, bi-fold doors not currently usable) and provides a light and airy space from which to marvel at that view, whatever the weather or season! Move into the cosy seating area around the warming woodburner set in an elegant limestone fireplace which is open to the dining area set in a substantial floor to ceiling bay window, also admiring the views. The ingenious kitchen is also in the living area and has all you may need, wrapped up in stunning blue-black granite.
An inner hallway leads to the rest of Hartwood; three bedrooms, one king size with huge bay window from which to yet again gaze at the views and with en-suite monsoon wet room; another king size also admiring the views and with patio doors directly out to a private veranda with bistro set. This room has access to the house bathroom, a luxurious pampering place complete with free-standing designer bath with waterfall spout and separate monsoon shower facility with additional hand held shower head. The third bedroom can either be set up as a super king size or twin, so please specify when booking; this room also has its own private verandah with bistro set as well as an en-suite Lakeland slated WC with wash basin.
Oak and glass stairs lead down to the cinema room with comfy seating and giant bean-bags from which to relax and watch the large wall-mounted TV with linked X-Box 360; what a place to catch up on your favourite films! Guests can also access Netflix on this TV if they have their own account; otherwise choose from the well-stocked DVD library. This room also has a library of novels, Lake District books and maps and a well-stocked toy-box to keep even the little ones happy. On this level there is also a useful utility / kitchen / boot room with access to the garden and in here is a second fridge for the wine! Lastly there is a games room with full-size pool table and music system that will keep any teenager amused and is a great place to be when the weather is bad. Outside the Lakeland slate infinity terrace is the place to be and the gardens are a real delight and whatever time of the year that view is simply to die for!
Hartwood nestles in a peaceful yet breathtaking elevated spot just above the village of Ambleside backing onto Sweden Bridge. A holiday property in Ambleside provides an excellent starting point for a varied Lake District holiday. Easily accessible via the A591 on the northern shores of Lake Windermere, Ambleside is a contemporary, characterful Lakeland village with a spectacular backdrop of Lake District fells. The location is ideal for walking in the Lake District, with many renowned routes beginning in and around the village. But Ambleside is also a popular choice for a relaxed, slow-paced holiday. Contemporary shops, leisurely lake cruises, acclaimed Lake District restaurants and cosy traditional pubs make the village centre a delight at any time of year.
For evening entertainment, you'll find plenty to suit every taste. Try the renowned Force Mill restaurant, in a superbly converted saw mill, for a special evening out. Or, take your pick from the two quirky cinemas; Zeffirellis cinema includes a great pizzeria and live jazz bar. Fellinis has an excellent vegetarian restaurant and shows films in a relaxed studio cinema environment. You'll also find a wide range of pubs, serving hearty food and real Lakeland ale - notable for its lake shore setting is the Wateredge Inn. Windermere Lake Cruises depart from Waterhead Pier, just outside Ambleside village centre. The elegant 'steamers' offer regular trips to Bowness and Lakeside - a great way to explore without driving. Evening cruises are also available, sometimes with buffet meals and live music.
