The property

High Pike is a spacious ground floor apartment within the prestigious Lakelands Development which is set in an elevated position only a very short walk from the centre of the village of Ambleside. With stunning views towards Fairfield Horseshoe and Loughrigg from both the lounge and patio, High Pike is set in an enviable position. Waterhead at the northern tip of Lake Windermere is a ten minute walk away. High Pike offers comfortable, quality accommodation, in a great, convenient location, with walks from the door making it a popular choice all year round. == Accommodation in detail From the private parking area a communal entrance hallway with lift or stairs to the front door of High Pike. The front door opens onto an inner hallway which leads into the kitchen area which is fitted with wall and floor cupboards and kitchen appliances. The kitchen area leads through to the lounge/dining area. The lounge is bright and airy with two comfortable sofas that compete with each other for the best view from the large floor to ceiling patio doors. For cosy evenings in, the large flat screen Smart TV is ideal for relaxing with a film or your favourite TV show. Stepping out onto the patio there are beautiful views high above the rooftops to Loughrigg Fell, the Langdales, the Coniston Fells or Fairfield and there is no better place to sit and relax with a glass of wine as the sun sets in the evening. Returning to the lounge/dining area the family dining table is an ideal spot to enjoy a hearty breakfast or a romantic dinner for two. The bedroom, which shares the views across the valley, is well furnished and offers a comfortable king size bed or can be converted to 2 full size single beds if requested. This is complemented with a ultra modern en-suite shower room comprising concealed cistern w.c, shower enclosure with thermostatic rainhead shower/diverter, basin and vanity unit with anti mist sensor illuminated mirror above and underfloor heating and heated towel rail together with generous wardrobe space. There is an additional bathroom again in a modern design with w.c, basin and vanity unit with sensor illuminated mirror above, full size bath (ideal for a long soak after walks on the fells) with electric shower over and underfloor heating and heated towel rail. The property has one allocated private parking space. Location A holiday cottage in Ambleside provides an excellent starting point for a varied Lake District holiday. Easily accessible on the northern shores of Lake Windermere, Ambleside is a contemporary, characterful Lakeland village with a spectacular backdrop of Lake District fells. The location is ideal for walking in the Lake District, with many renowned routes beginning in and around the village. But Ambleside is also a popular choice for a relaxed, slow-paced holiday. Contemporary shops, leisurely lake cruises, acclaimed Lake District restaurants and cosy traditional pubs make the village centre a delight at any time of year. For evening entertainment, you'll find plenty to suit every taste. Try the popular Fulling Mill restaurant, in a superbly converted saw mill, for a special evening out. Or, take your pick from the two quirky cinemas; Zeffirellis cinema includes a great pizzeria and live jazz bar. Fellinis has an excellent vegetarian restaurant and shows films in a relaxed studio cinema environment. You'll also find a wide range of pubs, serving hearty food and real Lakeland ale - notable for its lake shore setting is the Wateredge Inn. Windermere Lake Cruises depart from Waterhead Pier, just outside Ambleside village centre. The elegant 'steamers' offer regular trips to Bowness and Lakeside - a great way to explore without driving. Evening cruises are also available, sometimes with buffet meals and live music.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
