Accommodation in detail
An idyllic, remote rural property located 1.5 miles from the village of Cartmel. Approached along a rambling, leafy and undulating country lane with parking right outside; walk through the garden gate to a set of external steps leading to this loft. Entrance hall with access to the open plan living / dining area, now you know you are in a converted loft with beautiful exposed 'A' frame old oak beams and an uninterrupted panoramic view over the sublime countryside. Warm by the woodburner and gaze out at the view. The king size bedroom boasts a separate dressing room.
The rustic galley kitchen is neat and compact but ideal for holiday living and the modern bathroom is designed to soak away any fell walking aches of the day. In the seperate outbuilding you can find a 4 seater hot tub, perfect for relaxing after a day out in the countryside alongside an "endless" swimming pool, ideal for a gentle swim or even to train for an open water event like the famous Great North Swim. Outside the cottage to cement the green credentials of the property there is an electric car charging point, a woodchip biomass boiler providing the hot water and up the lane the farm's own wind turbine.
If Howbarrow Loft happens to be unavailable on the days you require or you have friends that may like to join you, then nearby on the same Farm is Howbarrow Farm Cottage which you can view by clicking here. The Cottage shares the on-site swimming pool and hot tub; you can either reserve some time for your own use or share with friends (and a glass of bubbly) staying in the Cottage.
This unspoilt medieval village is situated in a quiet valley in one of England's most outstanding areas of natural beauty on the fringe of the Lake District National Park.
Offering stunning views of the South Lakeland District fells and countryside, Cartmel has grown up around its famous 12th Century medieval Priory Church. It is a special place where ancient history and tradition mingle effortlessly with the present day.
Although steeped in history, Cartmel is not trapped in time and the village offers today's visitors many modern surprises in the form of fine quality attractions, shops, a wide variety of traditional Lakeland inns and cutting edge gourmet restaurants including the internationally acclaimed Michelin Star restaurant, L'Enclume. Around the village square you will discover a delightful assortment of genuine 16th - 18th century buildings.
All this and the famous Cartmel racecourse providing national hunt racing in its most original format is just off the centre of the village square. With its party crowds and funfair, Cartmel rekindles the social gathering tradition of the original steeple to steeple chases.
